It’s no secret by now that we at The Honey POP are maybe (sort of) still going through our emo phase, right? So you can imagine our joy when we came across a certain artist named Rich Delinquent, who brings emo vibes combined with electronic and hip hop influences we can’t help but dance to.

Rich Delinquent has been making music since 2019, with the single ‘Death Drive,’ and it’s only been up from there. His debut album, Sadboi, came in 2021, and now we need to talk about his new EP, Here’s To Dystopia. With four songs that sound unique and cohesive at the same time and some awesome featuring artists, this new EP is definitely going to be part of our playlists from now on.

‘Here’s To Dystopia’ Feat. Riley

Here’s To Dystopia starts off strong with the title track, featuring Riley, which offers a sincere look at the way we were taught to view mental health issues and the effects of the pharmaceutical industry on that. And you know how we love to see our faves talking about mental health.

‘Speak Up’ Feat. Emmy Mack

Then, we move on to ‘Speak Up,’ with Emmy Mack, who we all know and love. And if ‘Here’s To Dystopia’ was sharp and moody, ‘Speak Up’ is both soft and gut-wrenching. The lyrics take us through a bad breakup, and the combined voices of Rich Delinquent and Emmy Mack are guaranteed to make you cry.

‘Chica Diablo’ Feat. 12AM

The third track is ‘Chica Diablo’, where Rich Delinquent is accompanied by 12AM. Once more, the song completely changes gears from the previous, with this time diving into R&B and alt rock elements to create an addictive sound. And the lyrics also see a radical change, as this song is all about meeting a “devil girl” and dealing with the possibility of falling in love with her.

‘Where’s The Exit’ Feat. Lakeland

And closing the EP, we have ‘Where’s The Exit’, featuring Lakeland. Keeping up with the theme of relationships, this song is all about yearning for something while knowing the risk of falling in love with someone. In our opinion, this is the best track to end the EP on, because the pop beat not only makes us want to get up and dance, but it also leaves us wanting more from Rich Delinquent.
