Since mid-2023, The Boyz have been on the PHANTASY journey – releasing their second full-length album in three parts: Christmas in August, Sixth Sense, and finally, Love Letter. The era comes to an end with the release of Love Letter and its title track, ‘Nectar.’ Going from a fun summer song with ‘LIP GLOSS,’ to a dark concept with ‘WATCH IT,’ ‘Nectar’ shows The Boyz’s youthful side as they come back to their roots. Love Letter is the perfect way to close this incredible chapter for The Boyz.
‘Nectar’
Back in 2017, The Boyz debuted with ‘Boy.’ They brought to life the youthful concept in ways not many had been able to before. Since then, The Boyz have tried many genres and nailed every single one of them. But with ‘Nectar,’ they came back to their roots. This song is gorgeous. It embodies a mixture of youth and nostalgia in such a beautiful and incredible way. ‘Nectar’ is full of hope in its melody and gives the perfect vibe to inspire you. The chorus is something we will never get over. It is catchy and addicting, yet full of emotions.
And the music video makes ‘Nectar’ even better. They mix acting scenes with very real moments of them just having fun together. The behind-the-scenes after ‘Nectar’ is everything to us. Truly, this is The Boyz in their most beautiful form, and we love to see it.
‘Hurt Me Less’
Love Letter takes a turn with the b-side ‘Hurt Me Less.’ We part ways from the youthful, bright, sweet sound of ‘Nectar,’ and go onto a pop-rock angst heartbreak song with ‘Hurt Me Less.’ This song is unique in The Boyz’s discography as they’ve never truly tried this genre, yet they pulled it off so well. ‘Hurt Me Less’ is an absolute banger. And if you’re into pop-rock or pop-punk, you’ll fall in love with this song at first listen. ‘Hurt Me Less’ also has a music video where The Boyz showed their acting skills and gave us gorgeous visuals – as usual.
‘Dear.’
The last song of the PHANTASY era is an extra special one. As it is The Boyz‘s custom to release a song around their anniversary every year, ‘Dear.‘ was last year’s song. So yes, we’ve come to cherish and love this song for a few months now. Written by Sangyeon, Younghoon, New, Q, and Eric, this ballad is a beautiful love letter to their fans. Love Letter makes us go through youth, nostalgia, and pain, only to end with pure, unconditional love with ‘Dear.’ It’s heartfelt and warm and one of their most precious songs. To wrap up this PHANTASY journey with such a song is perfect.
