We here at The Honey Pop are always on the hunt for new movies and shows to watch (and talk about afterwards, of course). And we know you all love that too! So of course we would come here to tell you all about these new movies and TV shows we cannot wait to sit on the couch to watch.
Descendants: The Rise of Red
The Descendants franchise has been one of Disney‘s most successful in recent years and it looks like it’s going to stay that way if this video for ‘What’s My Name (Red Version)’ is anything to go by. Not only do we get to see our lovely China Anne McClain back as Uma, but we also meet Kylie Cantrall make her first appearance as Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts.
These two lovely women will be starring on Descendants: Rise of Red, the newest addition to the franchise set to premiere on Disney+ on July 12. In this new movie, we’ll see Red join forces with her polar opposite, Chloe (daughter of Cinderella,) to go back in time and stop her mother from going down the path of villainy. We’ll be here waiting to see if this unlikely duo will succeed in their quest.

The Fall Guy
Five words: Ryan Gosling as a stuntman. That’s it. That’s how we’re advertising this movie to you. But really, this is such a good movie we cannot recommend it enough. Ryan plays a former stuntman who left his days of jumping from buildings and getting blown up behind after an accident.
But fate won’t let him quit and he ends up back in a film set, but this time, his mission is a little different: finding the actor he used to be a stunt double for who went missing while filming a movie in Australia. The result is an action-packed thriller full of fight scenes and epic chases we couldn’t look away from. Catch The Fall Guy in theaters and then come back to tell us what you think.

Dark Matter
Apple TV+ has been known for giving us some of the best TV shows in recent years, and Dark Matter is shaping up to be another one of those. Based on the sci-fi novel of the same name, this show follows Jason Dessen, a physicist who is abducted by an alternate version of his life. At first, Jason is amazed by the experience, but he quickly finds out not everything is what it seems.
Jason then embarks on a quest to find his way back to his real life, but to do that, he’ll have to get through several other versions of his own life. And he’ll have to face the toughest of enemies to do it: himself. If, like us, you want to know how this story will go, you can catch the first two episodes of Dark Matter on Apple TV+ from May 8 and a new episode every week until June 26.

Prom Dates
Graduating high school is an important moment and one many kids dream of for years. And that’s exactly what the main characters of Prom Dates, Jess and Hannah, have been doing since they were 13. At that age, these two best friends made a pact to have, in their words, “the perfect senior prom.” And despite the craziness that senior year brings, it looks like they’re going to succeed. But if that were the case, we wouldn’t have a movie, would we?
With only 24 hours left for the big day, both Jess and Hannah break up with their prom dates and it suddenly looks like their perfect prom is doomed. Now, they have only one more night to fix it and have the night their middle school selves dreamed of. Prom Dates is currently available for streaming on Hulu.
Shardlake
Historical fiction is one of our favorite genres. So is suspense. And Shardlake combines both to make one of Hulu’s best shows in recent times. Set in England during the 16th century, the show revolves around Matthew Shardlake, a lawyer-turned-investigator whose life is turned upside down when he is asked to investigate a murder in a monastery in a small town. And it’s safe to say the town of Scarnsea isn’t too happy to have strangers showing up out of nowhere.
The main objectors to the presence of Shardlake and his partner Jack Barak are the monks, who are determined to preserve their order and their monastery. On the other hand, Shardlake’s employer, Thomas Cromwell, has made it very clear that failing to solve the murder and close the monastery isn’t an option for Shardlake. Excuse us while we head over to Hulu to binge watch Shardlake right now.
Welcome To Wrexham
Did you know that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought a soccer team in 2020? The duo are the current owners of the Wrexham A.F.C team from North Wales, UK. Their idea was to turn this 5th tier team into “an underdog story the whole world could root for” and based on the three seasons of Welcome To Wrexham, it’s safe to say they’re succeeding.
This docuseries follows both the two Hollywood stars learning to run a soccer team and the team themselves as they rise through the ranks and make it back to the English Football League. Now back for the third season, even those of us who aren’t huge sports fans can’t wait to see what comes next in Welcome To Wrexham. The show is currently available to stream on Hulu.
