Who doesn’t love a good story-based music video, especially with the creativity of the K-Pop industry? IVE have given us just that with the mystical ‘Accendio,’ which might just be our favorite IVE music video yet! It starts with each of the girls swimming in a nice pool… aside from Gaeul, who randomly disappears. The rest of the group goes inside and tries to call her, then she rides back on a bike holding a magic wand. Once they touch the wand, they have a shimmery transformation and show up in those Sailor Moon-esque outfits that everyone loved from the IVE SWITCH concept photos!
Rei finds a note that tells IVE they can “gain this magic force” if they manage to protect the wand until midnight. And that sounds like a plan until an evil version of the group shows up! It turns out that Gaeul had stolen the wand from them during some kind of ritual when she had disappeared hours earlier. But they’re magical, so of course they found a way to track her down. Good IVE still wants to earn their powers, so they fend off their evil twins with dance battles and some combat.
Seconds before midnight, Gaeul manages to hide the wand in their fridge to keep Evil IVE away. They get to keep their powers, but the wand disappears when they open the fridge back up later!
A New Side Of IVE
So now, we have a theory: is this Evil IVE actually part of IVE’s concept? Was IVE SWITCH teasing this new side of the group, or making it more clear to us? Has it been there all along?
