As CARATs, we adore every comeback and release that we get from SEVENTEEN: from group and solo comebacks to everything in between. And with a brand new sub-unit, how can we not buzz all about it? The new duet, JEONGHAN X WONWOO, also known as JxW, exceeds our expectations, and trust us, they were high! We are in love with ‘Last night (Guitar by Juwon Park)’ and the entirety of THIS MAN.
Not only did we get a fantastic title track, but the JxW single album also gifted us with two striking solo pieces. There is no doubt we already want more from this duo.
Listen to JxW’s THIS MAN.
‘Last Night’
JxW got us obsessed with their main track, ‘Last night.’ We seriously believe that whoever takes a listen will fall into their spell. The melody gives us a dark, dreamy vibe; the kind that entices in the sweetest of ways. However, it is JEONGHAN and WONWOO’s vocals that seal the deal.
Presenting a brilliant story about a man who promises to fulfill people’s desires in their dreams, all the while searching for someone who is already gone, and he himself being hunted by another, it is not just the song but the tale it tells that make this a perfect unit debut. Our emotions are all over the place, running with the two men in the music video.
While the story-driven clip is definitely gorgeous and captivating, it seems the duet decided we needed more. In addition to this stunning and unmatchable experience, JxW also dropped a whole 37-minute audiobook. Titled Full Story of THIS MAN, the two members read the whole tale with their incredibly soothing voices. We get to experience THIS MAN in various ways, and we’re simply left in amazement at the artistic ways in which the SEVENTEEN members continue to reach us. The ‘MAESTRO‘s have truly done it again.
The Solo Tracks
What do solo songs do best and why do we love them so much? They make an artist’s individual talent shine in a new way. And this is what the two side tracks on THAT MAN do for both members.
JEONGHAN’s ‘Beautiful Monster’ lets his voice soar and show its sweet and beautiful side even more than usual. And you know how much we love sweet things here (we have honey in our name, after all). We already fell for his vocals numerous times. Now, we get to experience and appreciate them in a new way.
And as if we weren’t melting enough already, WONWOO certified our softer selves with the ballad, ‘Leftover.’ This is an attractive piece that starts gently, only to build us up through a more intense entry into the chorus. Lastly, the second half of the track keeps the passionate mood and our attention to its fullest, all the way back to the gentle instrumental ending.
What do you think of JxW’s THIS MAN? Are you playing ‘Last night’ on repeat? Hop over to @thehoneypop, or even on our Facebook and Instagram, and let’s talk (or scream) about how good this unit debut is. We’re already anticipating a comeback.
