If it wasn’t clear by all the gushing we have done in the past, we are huge Olivia O’Brien fans, and nothing could have made us happier than getting a new EP stacked full of what we would consider to be some of her best work to date. We had a feeling after ‘blip‘ that the era upon us was going to be unlike any other we had seen from Olivia and love & limerence delivers! There are very few singer-songwriters putting out music with the vulnerability you’ll find within the lyrics on this EP, it’s a beautifully tragic rarity.

The EP, love & limerence, is five tracks long, which usually would leave us feeling like we were missing something, like we needed more. Of course, we will never say no to new Olivia O’Brien music, but this EP left us feeling like a full story was told. And that is because of the artistry on display! Overall, love & limerence is a rather somber record, with Olivia really being able to get into her feelings and let them out through her art, by navigating loneliness as a large theme. However, in our opinion, there is a glimpse of light, with ‘glimpse of me.’ Despite still having deep lyrics, ‘glimpse of me’ makes for a perfect middle point on the EP with a hint of sunshine in the form of recognizing growth within yourself.
We are going to go now and listen to love & limerence on a loop!
