AB6IX‘s WOONG has been spoiling us with his numerous covers throughout the years, presenting his many sides as a singer. It doesn’t matter what genre he is tapping into or what language the song he is singing is in. He always gives it his all. And to top the pleasant sounds of his beautiful voice, he always gifts his covers with a specially prepared video. Yes, we’re very spoiled and love being ABNEW (this being only one of many reasons).
Because WOONG has a wide variety of covers to go through, we decided to pick a few of our favorite ones to share with you all. We admit now that this was incredibly hard, and we almost made this list way longer than we intended. But somehow, we made it (or did we?)
‘STAY’ (Original: The Kid LAROI, Justin Bieber)
We’re starting with something a little older but so good that we just had to have it here. WOONG covered ‘STAY’ by The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber, and let us tell you, we feel like we’re falling for him all over with each listen. And the video? He looks so into it, so how can we not enjoy this wonderful cover and even bounce along a little bit? It’s definitely one of our top favorite covers!
‘One Day’ (Original: MONSTA X)
For this next pick, we’re moving onto WOONG’s voice’s softer, gentler tones. His cover of MONSTA X‘s ‘One Day’ is as emotional as the original, yet he manages to put his own charm in it. Our hearts are captivated by this beautiful final result, and we know yours will be, too. Paired with the simple recording video, we get to focus on how serious and into the song the AB6IX member is when singing.
‘10,000 Hours’ (Original: Dan + Shay, Justin Bieber)
Still on the sweet train, this cover by WOONG will leave you smiling from ear to ear. With combined videos from AB6IX’s visit to the US for their recent tour, this feels like a whole music video, so how can we not feel spoiled? WOONG shares his fun and goofy side with us, and it is simply impossible not to love him. And his choice of Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber’s ‘10,000 Hours‘ just makes this even sweeter than it already is.
‘KICK BACK’ (Original: Kenshi Yonezu)
We’re finishing this list with a strong kick! WOONG picked a J-Rock piece by Kenshi Yonezu, which is also the opening track for the popular anime Chainsaw Man. He went ahead and made sure to look at the part when making this video. The details make us even more engrossed in his version of ‘KICK BACK.’ Our rock star WOONG slayed hard with this cover, and we are begging for more.
How did you like our little list of AB6IX WOONG’s covers? He doesn’t restrict himself with genres or languages, and worry not, there’s plenty more for you to go discover and enjoy. He is definitely rocking the English covers, and we also recommend you check out his version of Conan Gray’s ‘Maniac.’ Some of our other favorites, to name a few, have to be Hwang Minhyun’s ‘Universe,’ AYANE’s ‘ごめんね,’ 831(八三夭)’s ‘想見你想見你想見你 (Miss You 3000), and Kenshi Yonezu ‘Lemon.’
Did we include your favorite cover by AB6IX’s WOONG? What would your list of top picks be? Share with us on our socials at @thehoneypop, Facebook, and Instagram. We’re very curious.
