Lucy Dacus has had our hearts since ‘Night Shift,’ so we are super excited to hear her upcoming album, Forever Is A Feeling! The album is set for release on January 25th. But we already have two tracks from the album, ‘Ankles’ and ‘Limerence,’ so you know we’re on it as soon as she dropped them.

We honestly can’t move on from that album cover; Lucy looks so mystical. And once you watch the music video for ‘Ankles,’ you’ll understand. Forever Is A Feeling will have many amazing artists like Hozier, Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, Blake Mills, Bartees Strange, Madison Cunningham, Collin Pastore, Jake Finch, and Melina Duterte. If you know anything about us, then you’ll know we’re big fans of everyone on this list. We also think they’ll blend so well with the type of music Lucy makes, especially her fellow boygenius members. And y’all, ‘Ankles’ and ‘Limerence’ are just so good and make us even more excited for the album!
‘Ankles’
‘Ankles’ is actually a continuation of her last album, Home Video, with this track and the album being more adult and sexual compared to the last album. Violins pull us into the track, almost begging us to listen, as Lucy does the same, begging for a touch/attention that she most likely won’t get. We gotta say we’re suckers for any song that has violins, but only a few actually make sense together. Our favorite part musically has to be where all the other instruments fade out, and all you hear is the percussion, as it makes the lyrics even more hard-hitting. We can honestly imagine this easily being a collab with Hozier, as they both sing about yearning.
This is the only track from the album so far that has a music video, and we think it went perfectly with the track. We like how it’s something you would see in a movie, where the characters are doing a chase and pull. We also really like how the people in the MV are supposed to be the paintings, especially Lucy, as she stands out with her beautiful red gown. Listen to the track and watch the MV. You won’t regret it. You can stream it here.
‘Limerence’
The second track we got from the album is ‘Limerence.’ Much like ‘Ankles,’ ‘Limerence’ opens up with a single instrument. And this time, it’s a piano as Lucy pulls us into a modern sad ballad. We absolutely love the composition of this track; it complements her vocals so well. With the lyrics, we can picture it all so perfectly in our minds. But with the indication that there seems to be cheating involved, it is gut-wrenching. Our favorite part of the track has to be the outro: we love how she breaks up the lyrics and how the piano plays alongside her.
It’s really hard deciding which track is our favorite so far from Forever Is A Feeling, but if we had to pick, we gotta say we really haven’t let go of ‘Limerence’ yet. Don’t worry ‘Ankles,’ we still love you!
