It’s been a long minute since we’ve gotten a full-length album by LUCY. Childhood was released back in summer 2022, and it embodied everything we had loved about the band ever since their debut. Now that all four members are back together after their military service, it makes sense to open another big chapter in their discography: their second full-length album, Childish.
While their first album centered around youth, Childish is all about growing up and being hit with the tough reality of adult life while trying to hold on to things you cherished. Childish puts together their two 2025 releases and revamps them as the four-piece they are, incorporating every song into the album in the most perfect, tasteful way, creating a beautiful narrative of love, pain, and growth, with WAJANGCHANG, Sunflower, and 5 new tracks. Here are the highlights of this 15-track-long masterpiece!
‘Sprout’
Opening such a huge chapter is no easy task, yet ‘Sprout’ does it in the best way. While the album has its chill moments, ‘Sprout’ is one of the most energetic, joyful, and full-of-life moments in Childish. The song is one of the most joyful LUCY has given us and begins the journey of this album with hope, but also a realistic view that things aren’t always painless and that you can easily get lost. It beautifully sets the scene for a complex album full of emotions.
‘Where’s Your Love’
Growing up comes with its tough punches, and unfortunately, some of those punches are people you love growing up too, and sometimes growing apart from you. ‘Where’s Your Love’ embodied the Sunflower era beautifully and remains one of the most memorable songs from it. The song is full of heartbreak and emotion, yet showcases LUCY’s excellence as musicians by blending bright sounds with painful, relatable lyrics about loss and growing up.
‘Porch Light’
No one does a chill, laid-back, yet poignant ballad quite like LUCY, and they’ve done their magic again with ‘Porch Light.’ With delicate vocals and lyrics full of sorrow and nostalgia, ‘Porch Light’ has the power to break your heart into a million pieces while silencing all the voices in your head. ‘Porch Light’ is a vulnerable song about feeling lost after losing someone. While the whole song is in English, the very last verse is in Korean, with only a soft voice and a ukulele, which makes it more intimate and lets it linger even when the whole album is done. Followed by ‘bleu’ and ‘Why you hate…’ in the tracklist shows just how good LUCY are with ballads.
‘Pathetic Love’
It’s been a year, and even in a sea of 15 absolutely masterful songs, ‘Pathetic Love’ is still one of the clearest and most hard-hitting highlights in Childish. The WAJANGCHANG b-side remains one of their most powerful tracks and a true jewel in their discography. Full of angst and desperation, the rock ballad explodes in the chorus, giving a feeling that only LUCY can create. ‘Pathetic Love’ has so many layers of emotions, it makes you feel like you’re in a movie. Even after listening to it for a year, we’re blown away with every listen by the power of this song.
‘All Ages’
But we couldn’t be talking about Childish without talking about ‘All Ages,’ the album’s title track and its main embodiment. ‘All Ages’ is the perfect embodiment of the message LUCY has to convey with this album, and it showcases the strength of their storytelling, both in the lyrics and the instrumentation. ‘All Ages’ is a song that explores the tough reality of growing up and the unshakeable feeling that things are unfair. It has childish undertones, but also tones of despair. All tied together with a magical production, ‘All Ages’ is exactly why LUCY are such a good, unique, and necessary band.
