In case you missed it, Isabel LaRosa surprised her listeners with a bonus song to her Promising Young Woman EP: ‘American Wedding.’
Promising Young Woman is LaRosa’s third EP, following I’m Watching You (2022) and You Fear the God That Loves You (2023). With six incredible tracks, you don’t want to skip through a single one. From ‘The Things That I Would Do To Be Enough For You’ to ‘Claw Marks,’ each song hits close to home.
Her latest release is a deep-dive and exploration of perfection, pressure, and performance as she develops into this so-called promising young woman. Despite the EP’s ironic name, many of us can relate to the material in LaRosa’s songs. She talks about body image insecurities in ‘Porcelain’ and grief of a past relationship in ‘Hallucination.’
‘American Wedding’
Her seventh and unexpected song ‘American Wedding’ is Isabel LaRosa at her best. Featuring her signature honest, vulnerable lyricism and cinematic instrumental, the listener is drawn into a two-part film: Before, when she and her partner are “the kids who don’t know where our lives are headin’” and high on their romance. After, when she is watching him move on with someone else, living out the life she imagined for them: “My love, you were the life I wanted / Your kids will have her eyes.” It is so tender that it’s painful.
After touring with Madison Beer across Europe and releasing the Promising Young Woman EP, Isabel LaRosa is not done. LaRosa is opening for Melanie Martinez on her HADES: THE SACRIFICE tour in North America for the rest of the summer.
