Anytime Seungmin has been part of the writing credits, we’ve known that the song was going be special and make us feel things we never knew we could feel. From ‘My Universe‘ to ‘Respirator,’ from ‘Party’s Not Over’ to ‘STAY,’ Seungmin has had his own share of input in the making of Stray Kids’ flawless discography. And here are five of the songs that were written by Seungmin that have been the most unforgettable and life-changing.
‘Piece of a Puzzle’ (2021)
‘Piece of a Puzzle’ remains, still to this day, one of the most precious songs Stray Kids has ever released. Before Seungmin and Changbin teamed up for ‘Party’s Not Over,’ they released their unit song ‘Piece of a Puzzle’ in honor of Stray Kids’ third anniversary. The song blends the warmth of Seungmin’s voice beautifully with Changbin‘s most sentimental rap. With a meaningful message, ‘Piece of a Puzzle’ still hits as hard as it did back in 2021.
‘Stars and Raindrops’ (SKZ-REPLAY, 2022)
It feels like Seungmin knew exactly what he wanted his first solo song written by him to sound like, and you nailed it on the first try. Every second of ‘Stars and Raindrops‘ feels like it’s what Seungmin is all about. It’s simply a perfect pop-rock ballad with chorus melodies that hit every time so well that it feels like levitating. The melodies are not only satisfying and beautiful, but Seungmin’s honey voice makes the song even more ethereal, and not a single lyric misses the perfect spot of being simultaneously hopeful and heartbreaking.
‘Novel’ (THE SOUND, 2023)
The release of THE SOUND was really all about exploring all the sides of Stray Kids’ music, and it allowed for a few members who didn’t usually write songs for the entire group to have their songs included. Seungmin was one of them, giving way to a truly gorgeous yet underrated B-side: ‘Novel.’ The song has some of his most gorgeous songwriting as he uses the metaphor of a novel for love, and it fits beautifully, giving way to a song that also has no comparison in Stray Kids’ discography. It was the first step in Seungmin’s storytelling and exploration of concept in music, and this is something he has mastered since then.
‘CINEMA’ (Mixtape : dominATE, 2025)
Seungmin and Lee Know knew exactly how to craft one of the most beautiful songs in Stray Kids‘ discography, and they knew exactly how to make it one of the highlights of their biggest tour yet. Ask anyone who has seen a performance of ‘CINEMA,’ even through a screen, and they’ll tell you they got goosebumps. This duo was on a mission to make the perfect song to embody the unique experience of sharing a live concert with a community you’ve built, and ‘CINEMA‘ is exactly what came out of it. It goes to show their passion for performing live and creating a safe space. It shows how much they’ve always cared about putting on the best show and creating unforgettable moments.
‘As We Are’ (HOP, 2024)
‘Stars and Raindrops’ was Seungmin’s first solo song outside of his OSTs, yes, but the Seungmin song is, of course, ‘As we are.’ The acoustic guitar, the build-up, the way it showcases all sides of his vocals, from the soft to the powerful, and the feeling behind it. ‘As we are‘ encapsulates something so beautiful. It isn’t only the song itself that makes this so special and one of our favorites, but also the entire thought behind it. Whenever Seungmin took the stage to sing this song, it would be nothing but him, his vocals, and his guitar, creating one of the most unforgettable moments of the night. But even more meaningful was the music video, as Seungmin portrayed the story of his life and how he came to leave baseball behind and choose the path of music. ‘As we are’ encapsulates everything we love about Seungmin as an artist, and it’s every reason why we’re always looking forward to more songs written by him.
