Park Jinyoung is truly an ace. The man can sing, dance, rap and act like a pro, which is great because it means we never run out of content to watch, listen to and talk about. Today, we’re choosing to list our favorite roles Jinyoung has ever played since his acting debut. Care to join us?
He Is Psychometric (2019)
There is truly no way we’d start this list any other way. Lee Ahn from He Is Psychometric was Jinyoung‘s first leading role and he killed it from the very first scene. Here, his character loses his parents in a traumatic event and develops the power of psychometry, or the ability to read someone or something’s past through touch.
And what does Lee Ahn do with that? He decides to use it to combat criminals. Along the way, he meets Yoon Jae-in, a young woman whose father was framed for arson and whose name she wants to clear. Them two along with Lee Ahn’s foster guardian, Kang Sung-mo, team up with investigator Eun Ji-soo to solve various cases that tie back to the fire that took Lee Ahn’s parents all those years ago.
The Devil Judge (2021)
The iconic The Devil Judge could never be left out of this list. Not only is the plot amazing and the type of suspense that makes you want to finish the series all in one sitting, but seeing Jinyoung play not one, but two great characters makes it even better. In a dystopian version of South Korea drowned in chaos with trials held in a courtroom live show aired on television, we get to meet two sides of Jinyoung’s acting.
He plays Kim Ga-on, the rookie associate judge on the Live Court Show, and Kang Isaac, the deceased older brother of Yo-han, the head judge of the court. And it’s amazing to watch how he switches from Ga-on, the rookie who just met Yo-han, to Isaac, the older brother who knows everything about him. And we’re obsessed with how clear the differences are despite the fact that these characters share so many similar traits. They’re both viewed as calm and empathetic, but the way Jinyoung shows those traits in each character is completely different. Guess we could say the devil is in the details with this show.
A Christmas Carol (2022)
Park Jinyoung playing twin brothers. That alone should be enough to convince you to watch A Christmas Carol if you haven’t already. But we’ll give you more reasons anyway. This thrilling action movie begins when the quiet and gentle Joo Wol-woo is found dead on Christmas morning and his death is ruled as “accidental” by the police despite obvious signs that it wasn’t the case.
However, his twin Joo Il-woo, who’s very much the opposite of his brother, refuses to accept it and decides to take matters into his own hands to find out who’s responsible. By that we, of course, mean that he gets himself locked up in a juvenile jail camp to seek revenge. He heard it when Wol-woo was being attacked by some guys and is determined to find them and make them pay. The sharp contrast between the two characters does wonders to showcase how great of an actor Jinyoung is.
Hi Five (2025)
We love a good fantasy story, so us including Hi Five on this list should come as no surprise. After five people recieve organ donations from a mysterious deceased superhuman, they gain superpowers and learn to use them for various purposes. The interesting thing about Jinyoung in this movie is that he is a villain this time.
While most of the organ transplant recipients are regular people who form a team of new heroes learning how to navigate this new chapter, Jinyoung plays Yeong-chun, a cult leader. Not only that, a cult leader who plans on going after the other recipients to harvest more superpowered organs for himself. The character may be a bad person, but it’s so fun to watch our usually sweet Jinyoung be bad on screen.
Our Unwirtten Seoul (2025)
Love interest Park Jinyoung will always be one of our absolute favorite Jinyoung‘s. And that’s exactly what we get in Our Unwritten Seoul. Mi-ji and Mi-rae are identical twins who live opposite lives but decide to swap places for a few months. In the middle of their scheme is Lee Ho-soo, a former classmate of the twins, now a lawyer, who’s been in love with Mi-ji for years.
It’s adorable to see Ho-soo realizing that he suddenly feels interested in “Mi-rae” after so long only having eyes for her sister because it is, in fact, Mi-ji there, right in front of him and Jinyoung did a great job (as usual) playing the character. Balancing his role as a love interest with all the emotional depth of Ho-soo’s childhood trauma was no easy feat, but once again our man did it perfectly.
Still Shining (2026)
Ah the high school sweethearts who meet again years later. We love to see it, and we love it even more when it involves Jinyoung as one of the leads, so of course Still Shining was going to make this list. In this story, he plays a studious young man named Yeon Tae-seo who falls in love with free-spirited Mo Eun-a, but their romance is cut short by circumstances outside their control and they are separated for a whole decade.
They meet once more in Seoul, now fully grown adults full of old feelings to sort through. It’s one of those classic K-Drama storylines we all know and love so much. We especially enjoy watching Jinyoung as Tae-seo because of how different he is from other romantic leads he’s played in the past. Tae-seo is much more introverted, guarded and apathetic than what we’ve seen from him so far, it’s a new challenge for him and an absolute delight to us as viewers.
