We’re Spending All Our ‘B.I.L.L.S.’ On Towa Bird

Getting a paycheck this week? You’ll probably want to gamble it on Towa Bird.

Towa is receiving a lot of buzz from her performances on tour with Reneé Rapp. Of course, we love Reneé, but we’ve come away from those live shows with Bird’s name on our tongue. A rock star to the core, she represents Gen Z in all its greatest forms including loving everything about oneself, queerness and all. Bird is not afraid to tell all in her songs, with her newest track, ‘B.I.L.L.S.’ reflecting the current economic state plaguing our generation. If you loved Towa’s popular ‘Drain Me!,’ we are confident that you will fall right in love with ‘B.I.L.L.S.’ 💸💸.

Right off the bat, this song is explosive and exciting, filled with guitar anthems and powerful vocals. One thing we love about Towa is that she doesn’t sugarcoat anything in her lyrics.

“I’m so tired of paying rent
I’m so tired of the B-I-L-L-S
I’m so tired of writing checks
Land of the free
If you can afford it
Joke is on me
Being broke is boring”

Now that Towa admitted she’s broke, we can admit it too. One thing about us, we will always find those extra pennies to attend a concert. Jokes aside, Towa nails it on the head here. Unfortunately, we can all relate to sometimes not being able to afford that new pair of shoes (we really need) or that perfectly ripe bunch of bananas 🍌 sitting in the grocery produce aisles.

“I’m so tired of life’s expense
I bought a banana
Cost me twenty dollars
Got a f*****g ticket
Rather get run over”

Hands in the air if you’ve gotten a parking ticket! 🖐️ The reality of money flowing out of our pockets is an all too real one. Towa Bird is one of the few artists who can grasp Capitalism by the hair and show it whose boss! She shows audiences, new and old, that music can be a vehicle for change, beginning with economic crises seen across the world. Art has the power to initiate thoughtful conversations around topics such as these, and we love that Towa is taking the initiative to lead them in the music industry!

“With the world being more expensive than ever before, ‘B.I.L.L.S.’ is my commentary on a very visceral feeling my generation is having. Unfortunately, Gen Z is enduring the brunt of the economic harshness… I wanted to channel those fears, hardship, and reality into a song. This is my favorite song to play live because the energy is infectious and escapist, but the message is resonant with so many people. Write those feelings into a cheeky little banger? I think yes.”

Towa stated in a press release

Lyrics aside, Towa captures audiences with a simple stroke of the guitar. Actually, the strokes are not simple at all, but she makes them seem super easy, as all the best artists do. Towa is no stranger to stage presence, and it’s clear that the stage is her home. Yong female rock stars are on the rise, with Towa leading the pack! We can’t wait to watch Towa grow into a bigger and bigger musical sensation as the year continues! If you’re not watching her now, make sure to add her to your list as you won’t want to miss a moment of her infectious stardom!
