We can’t believe you’re only 15! So, let’s first talk a little about you! You won Norway’s Got Talent at such a young age, and you’ve obviously grown a lot since then, how would you describe yourself as a teenage artist? What is it that’s changed about you? And what’s the hardest part about being in the music industry as a teenager?
I have been performing since I was 7 years old and it has been an exciting journey so far. I have learned a lot during the years and I am learning new things everyday. I have been writing original songs for a long time. Now I am ready to share my feelings and original works.

I think one of the hardest parts was to be told that I was too young to share my music. I have been told that I am an old soul. A lot of people did not understand how someone so young could feel and project the kind of emotions and feelings that come with life experience. To me, art doesn’t have any age gap/ restrictions, it is for everyone, all ages.

Being referred to as a prodigy is huge, does that come with a lot of pressure? What ways have you found to not get in your own head about it?
It is an immense honor to be called a prodigy. I am very humbled, and I feel like I have a bigger responsibility to create more art. I always want to excel. What keeps me going and out of my own head is my passion to connect people through my music. I always want to let the music talk for itself.

What would you say is the biggest advantage to starting off so young in the industry? What’s the biggest disadvantage?
At such an early age, people believed in me and my dream. The biggest advantage was that I was recognized for my talent. Music found me at an early age.

Concentrating on my music and being so involved with every aspect of my songs takes a lot of time and effort, especially to develop yourself as an artist.

Now, let’s talk about your incredible new song! ‘Million Miles’ is a beautiful addition to your career that not only reflects your growth as an artist but the emotional aspect is so raw and relatable. What was the creative process like for this record and how’s your experience of working with Stargate?
In the process of making Million Miles, I wanted to share the emotions that I had experienced for the first time, I had never felt that kind of loss that way before. When you are making something beautiful, you forget your sorrow for the time being. I love to create meaningful lyrics and melodies from my own experiences. It was a relief for me to put all those feelings I had into that song.  To work with Stargate has been an amazing experience because they understand my vision and most importantly, they allow me to be myself. We clicked so much that we could create many more great songs together.

What does it feel like to have a debut single that you wrote yourself released for the world to hear? Were you ever nervous about its release?
It is one of the best feelings to share your emotions into music and to also be able to share that with the world. When you put so much of yourself into something, it’s always scary to think about what other people’s expectations could be of songs you share. The feelings in my heart when I listen to a song I am working on, I want to share that same feeling with people. I want people to feel my music in their soul. That connection is so emotional and universal, no matter who you are, you feel it.

‘Million Miles’ is about the loss of your grandpa. Was it difficult to write on the subject or did you find it more therapeutic?
It was a relief for me to put all those feelings I have into that song,

And what made you choose it as your major label debut single?
I felt like Million Miles could be a light in this darkness, to spread love and a voice to say you are never alone.

Your music video for ‘Million Miles’ contains artwork you made with your grandma and that is so unbelievably special. Why was this important for you to include in your video?
My Grandma is very special to me. She is a part of me. We are so close to each other, that I don’t even see an age difference. We create a lot of art together, including a book, paintings and drawings. It is so much fun with her. She is a true mentor to me.

If there was a ‘Million Miles’ remix, who would you want to see jump on the track?
Khalid would be amazing.

You have already done some incredible things in your career and accomplished so much, but what are some things on your bucket list that you’d love to do? Any dream collabs with other artists? Dream venues to play? What can we expect from you the rest of the year?
My dream is to gather all the children that are in need into the biggest arena and play a benefit concert with many artists for those children. I would not say no to collaborating with The Weeknd, Post Malone or Sam Smith. I am creating more original songs and it is very exciting to have the opportunity to create timeless music. My next single will be released soon, which has pop jazz vibes to it.

Last but not least, have you discovered any new artists recently you’d like to share? What are your top 5 songs that you’ve listened to the most in the past year?
I have actually been listening to a lot of classic music, from the 40’s to the 80’s. My top five songs right now are All of Me by Billie Holiday, Stayin’ Alive by the Bee Gees, I Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley, After Hours by The Weeknd and Lofi music.

  • Now that is how an interview is done. Look forward to more and thank you for smoothly guiding Angelina Jordan toward comfort in the exchange. People have remarked she shuns speaking. She is a Capricorn and by nature guarded. Well done!
