Scooby-Doo Turns 20, And It Still Holds Up As An All-Time Great

Time is fake! We’re more sure of that than ever after figuring out that it’s been twenty years since Scooby-Doo has come out! In our humble opinion, Scooby-Doo is the single greatest animated-to-live-action film that has ever been released. Is that a large claim? Absolutely! But when you’re right, you’re right!

There are a million aspects that make Scooby-Doo the masterpiece it is! From ‘Words To Me,’ to the missed real-life theme park opportunity, Spooky Island, to the unbelievable cast. Everything here just worked like the most well-oiled machine.

The cast of Scooby-Doo includes four absolute pillars of all of our youths, Matthew Lillard, Linda Cardellini, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Freddie Prinze JR. Truly, the casting director couldn’t have picked a better group to bring some of the most beloved characters in entertainment to life in this way.

Aside from the nostalgia factor, one of the huge reasons why Scooby-Doo has held its own for twenty years is it’s everything we want in a movie. The comedy, the true friendship, the conflict resolution, all the aspects are here and are executed beautifully.

One of the most underrated parts of Scooby-Doo comes in the form of the star of the soundtrack ‘Words To Me.’ ‘Words To Me’ is a sun-soaked, ultimate song to sing at the bar (yes, we’ve done it) track sung by Sugar Ray. We greatly consider ‘Words To Me’ as one of the best songs off of a soundtrack of all time, and we do that completely un-regrettably.
