Binge-Worthy Buzz: You Can’t Miss These New Recs

binge-worthy buzz

Hello there, honeybees! How you doin’? (Let’s pretend you heard that in Joey Tribbiani’s voice and move on, shall we?) Welcome back to Binge-Worthy Buzz, our weekly series where we give you a series of new recommendations of what to watch next.

Turning The Tables With Robin Roberts

We might be freaking out a little over the news that our favorite Disney+ talk show will be picked up for a second season. To say the first season of Turning The Tables was successful would be an understatement. So seeing it heading into a new round of episodes is one of the best things we’ve heard recently.

But there’s some time before Robin Roberts gets to sit down with a new group of awesome Hollywood women. Time we can all use to watch the first season again or for the first time! The point is: go watch all these amazing women together on Disney+ as soon as you can.

This Fool

Comedy shows will forever have a place in Binge-Worthy Buzz. And this time, we’re talking about Hulu’s This Fool. The show is inspired by the life of stand-up comedian Chris Estrada, who’s also co-creator and plays the main character.

The main character in question is Julio Lopez, who’s having trouble with his general life problems and relationship, all while living with his parents in Los Angeles. On top of all those issues, there’s also his job. Julio works at a gang rehab center named Hugs Not Thugs. But as awesome as the name is, it doesn’t really reflect Julio’s days at work. At the rehab center, he’s constantly fighting with his ex-gang member cousin, Luis. That sounds like a fun family reunion, doesn’t it? Can’t wait to see how that turns out when the show starts streaming on August 12!

Love Revolution

Ah, love at first sight, isn’t it beautiful? Well, it is when it happens for both parts, which doesn’t seem to be the case for Gong Ju Young in Hulu’s new K-Drama, Love Revolution. Ju Young believes he’s found the love of his life in Wang Ja Rim, a girl from his school. But she’s not exactly welcoming of his displays of affection, or anyone’s, really.

But her cold demeanor won’t stop Ju Young from trying to win her heart. And, as these stories usually go, she does start to open up to him a bit with time. Along with the two protagonists, we have their best friends. Ju Young’s bestie since childhood is Lee Kyung Woo – who btw is played by Young Hoon from The Boyz – and Ja Rim’s is Oh Ah Ram – who’s played by Dayoung of WJSN. Now, we’ll let you figure out on your own whether these two will help the possible love birds or actually make things more difficult for them. Can August 15 please get here faster so we can watch this?

Rise Of The Footsoldier: Origins

A new addition to the Rise Of The Footsoldier movie franchise is about to be available on Hulu. Quick recap of the story of the movies if you’re unfamiliar: it’s a gangster story. The first movie was released alllll the way back in 2007 and had as its main character Carlton Leach, a hooligan-turned-gangster, and his involvement with drug dealers Pat Tate and Tony Tucker. The series went on for over a decade, with some movies focused on Carlton, others in other characters’ individual stories, but last year, we got a different type of story.

Rise Of The Footsoldier: Origins goes all the way back to when Pat Tate, Tony Tucker, and Rolfie met and decided to form their own firm instead of working for other people. This time, there’s a bigger focus on Tucker, who just got back from the Falklands War and almost immediately goes into rather shady businesses, and that’s when he meets his future business partners. You’ll be able to watch this trio build their business on August 12.

Legacy: The True Story Of The LA Lakers

It’s not exactly a secret that the LA Lakers are one of the biggest sports teams in the world, right? Even people outside of the US know who they are and many pay attention to how the team is doing throughout the season. But what many may not know is the history behind the great team we see today. Legacy is a 10-part documentary that will go deep into the story of the Lakers from the inside. Over the course of the episodes, we’ll see what happens from the moment Dr. Jerry Buss buys the team, which was a very risky thing to do, all the way to today, when they have 11 titles to their name.

For the past 40 years, the Lakers were the first team to get into the so-called “business of basketball,” pioneered by Dr. Buss in the 70s and 80s. But not everything comes that easy, which is the other side of the story we’ll be seeing in Hulu’s new series. From what we’re seeing about the show, the drama Dr. Buss’ family went through is enough to hook us all up until the end of the last episode. That’s not even to mention all the injuries and difficulties during games. The show starts streaming on August 15.

And this marks the end of this week’s Binge-Worthy Buzz! We hope you’ve enjoyed our selections, and if you did, please tell us so! You can find us on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. Let’s chat about it!
