It’s been less than a month since Jackson Wang released his sophomore solo album MAGIC MAN, and already, it’s been the era of a lifetime. The album saw Jackson unleash new sides of himself onto his audience! His vulnerability has clearly paid off, as Jackson Wang has received glowing praise (including here at The Honey POP) and has new personal bests on the Billboard charts!
MAGIC MAN is rife with the honesty and charisma that Jackson is known for outside of music. Combine that with raspy vocals and grunge and rock influences, and you have yourself a pretty potent mix.
Jackson is such a dynamic and versatile artist, and it shows. Singles like ‘Cruel’ and ‘Blue’ are probably enough to showcase his duality. But then you take into account a full body of work, including b-sides like ‘Champagne Cool’ and ‘Drive It Like You Stole It,’ and you see just how multi-faceted he truly is.

With all of this, it’s no surprise that Jackson Wang’s latest project is getting the global recognition it deserves, including on the Billboard charts. MAGIC MAN debuted at number 15 on the Billboard 200 (a new personal best for Jackson) and was the third top-selling album of the week!
The album isn’t even the only treat we’ve gotten this era; 2022 has been a big year for Jackson! Back in April, he became the first Chinese solo artist to ever perform on Coachella’s main stage. On top of that, in August he headlined 88rising’s Head In The Clouds festival at the Rose Bowl, and those shows are just the tip of the iceberg.

It’s truly a new era! Following an artist like Jackson Wang whose life goal is to make history and keep learning to improve oneself, an album like MAGIC MAN is a milestone, a pretty important one. Its difficult to choose favorites from the album but I’d be lying if Dopamine, Drive it like you stole it and All the way didn’t get some extra plays from me.
