From hot debuts to English versions of songs and announced comebacks, sometimes keeping up for a K-pop fan can be a job all of our own. Add in being a multi-stan and having to juggle our top ten or twenty groups at the same time. Things are bound to slip through the cracks, but that’s okay! It doesn’t make you less of a fan nor does it mean your lacking in any way, either. You’re also in luck, because we here at The Honey POP understand how hectic it can be keeping up with all of our faves, so we are to give you a rundown on 4 things you may have missed that are happening in K-pop!
Kidd King Releases Single ‘GO LOUD!’
One thing we can attest to is that Amoeba Culture artists never miss. As a part of the label’s Seed Project, the song features artist Punchnello and brings the rappers to the rock show. With guitars with heavy distortion that aren’t typically seen in hip-hop songs, ‘GO LOUD!’ is a refreshing way of mixing the genre. This type of experimentation can sometimes come off as overbearing, but the production done by Padi is a perfect mixture. It’s something that fans of any genre, from K-pop, K-hip hop, or even punk rock can find enjoyment in.
Seventeen Announces The Group’s Comeback
This past weekend in Korea was Seventeen’s annual fan meeting, affectionately called Carat Land. At this, the members spent time playing games and performing fan favorite songs, such as ‘DON QUIXOTE’ and ‘Aju Nice,’ the latter of which is also known by its English title ‘Very Nice.’ It was a fun day for fans and members alike, each of the three-day affairs spanning almost four hours each night. During one particular heartfelt moment shared between the group and their beloved Carats, which is what their fanbase is called, it was revealed that they will be releasing their next album in April. “We’re proud of our work,” the members said during the grand reveal, “we promise it will be a month to remember.” We don’t know about you, our beloved Hive, but we are definitely looking forward to April showers as we know they bring May flowers and a Seventeen comeback.
Independent Queer K-pop Group QI.X Announces Debut Single
If you are on the K-pop side of TikTok or Twitter, there’s a good chance you heard of the queer idol group QI.X. Composed of members PRIN, jiGOOK, Maek, and YOURA, the announcement of an all-queer idol group took stan social media by storm. They had their first performance of their debut track ‘Lights Up’ back in 2022, but it was recently announced that the studio version of this track was to come at the end of March. There’s a lot of excitement surrounding the announcement as many fans are welcoming a group of idols, all of who identify as something besides cisgender, with open arms.
XODIAC Releases The Music Video For Their All-English Pre-Debut Track
Coming off the back of four major magazine shoots, XODIAC took over Disneyland Hong Kong to bring fans their pre-debut song called ‘Calling.’ Decked out in luxury brands, show off their incredible singing and dancing abilities with a song about the ups and downs in relationships. The song opens with a funky bass line that has us bobbing our heads and turns into a groovy track that’s easy to listen to. If this is just a pre-debut track, we are beyond excited to see what comes from the XODIAC boys upon their official debut.
This is also just the beginning of what’s to come over the next few weeks. Remember what we said, it doesn’t make you less of a fan for not knowing what’s going on 24/7. Besides, when in doubt you have us to keep you up to date! Now we are curious, have you checked out Kidd King’s song? Are you excited about the Seventeen comeback? Do you have a new bias in QI.X or XODIAC? Send us a tweet, drop a comment on our Instagram, or join our server on Discord and let us know! We promise we won’t sting!
