“What master do I serve? What am I supposed to say, Jesus?” If you’re like us you can imagine that entire dialogue and scene from Avengers: Infinity War. That line specifically is just one of our many favorites said by Star Lord himself, Peter Quill! We’re in luck as soon we will be getting more iconic one-liners, quotes, scenes, etc., from Peter and the rest of the Guardians gang on May 5th! Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 is the long-awaited 3rd installment in the Guardians storyline in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! The last time that we saw Peter, Drax, Root, Rocket, and Nebula was in Thor: Love and Thunder. They had a brief cameo alongside Thor until they parted their separate ways.
This movie is a big deal as this is the first time that we get to see the beloved Guardians back together post Thanos snap (aka the blip) in a full-featured film. In case you need a refresher before watching Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3, since we are big Marvel fans we will happily catch you up.
‘Come and Get Your Love’ With The Guardians History Recap
Avengers: Infinity War resulted in Thanos snapping half of the entire universe population out of existence. That took out Groot, Mantis, Drax, and Peter. Rocket was in Wakanda with Groot when he was dusted. Nebula was left in space with Tony. Thanos “sacrificed” (killed) Gamora on Vormir to receive the soul stone. Then 5 years later in the MCU timeline, 2023, Avengers: End Game begins when our beloved superheroes reunite after Scott Lang returned from the Quantum Realm.
The Avengers came together to go back in time to beat Thanos by retrieving the infinity stones from moments on their timeline. This resulted in a big change in events! We relived our favorite moments in the MCU with the Civil War elevator scene, Thor on Asgard with Frigga, and Loki in the Stark Tower after The Avengers. Except this time around, Loki up the tesseract and disappears when the skirmish doesn’t go to plan (this is where we get TVA Loki). The crew eventually gets the infinity stones and the Hulk puts on the Iron Man gauntlet and everyone returns.
Thanos finds out about their plans due to Nebula’s overlapping memories. He learns how to manipulate Nebula more to use the time machine and comes to Earth with 2014 Nebula and Gamora. Everyone who was snapped shows up on the battlefield with the help of Doctor Strange. Thus Peter Quill, Drax, and Mantis are back on Earth. Peter sees Gamora for the first time but it’s not the Gamora he knows. It’s Gamora before Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 1. The Avengers win the war with Thanos and we veer into Phase 4 of the MCU with the crew making their appearance in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3.
