Binge-Worthy Buzz: Here Come More Sweet Recommendations

binge worthy buzz

Hello there, honeybees, how you doin’? Welcome back to a new edition of Binge-Worthy Buzz, our weekly series where we give you a list of recommendations of what you should add to your watchlist. Shall we get started?

Fast X

Next month, we will be heading to the movie theater to watch the tenth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, Fast X. As they’ve been saying, this is where the end of the road begins for one the most popular franchises the world has seen, being around for over twenty years. And the most impressive part is probably how the cast has been here for it from day one until now, going all over the world on crazy missions!

One of their most famous ones is 2011’s Fast Five, where Dom Toretto and his family took out Hernan Reyes in Brazil. Everyone thought that problem was over, but Reyes’ son, Dante was there and saw the whole thing go down, and he swore he’d get revenge for what happened to his father. 12 years later, he’s finally executing that plan, making Dom and his crew scatter all over the world, from Brazil to London, stopping by Portugal, Rome, and Antarctica as well. And if that weren’t bad enough, Dom also finds out Dante’s main target is his 8-year-old son. The movie comes out in theaters on May 19!

Secret Invasion

Disney+ has been keeping us very well-fed lately with new Marvel content. And the next big thing that’s about to drop is Secret Invasion. Like the Secret Invasion run in the comics, the series will be dealing with Skrulls, who we first met in Captain Marvel, invading Earth by making themselves look like humans, like what we saw in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Except the Skrulls in the series may not be as willing to help humanity as Talos is willing to help Nick Fury.

The series is making clear that even though the Skrulls we met in Carol Danvers’ first MCU appearance were refugees who just wanted to get away from the Kree, not all Skrulls are that nice… after all, we are talking about an entire race, you can’t expect everyone to think the exact same way. Now, it’s up to Nick Fury, Talos, and their allies, such as Maria Hill and Everett Ross, to stop the Invasion before it’s too late. Secret Invasion premieres on Disney+ on June 21!

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies

It’s pretty much impossible to have been on this Earth after 1978 and not know Grease. The iconic musical starring Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta is a classic for any movie lover, and anything related to it makes our hearts very, very happy. And that’s the case of Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Paramount+‘s latest arrival! Rise of the Pink Ladies takes place in 1954, four years before Danny and Sandy’s story.

Back then, Rydell High didn’t have the T-Birds as “the coolest guys in school,” and the future Pink Ladies were just outcasts who get tired of being at the base of the social structure and decide to turn it upside down. So, starting this week, we’ll meet the four future Pink Ladies who came before Rizzo, Frenchy, Marty, and Jen. The first two episodes will be available at once, with new ones coming every week. And to make things better, Rise of the Pink Ladies will also be a musical series, and the soundtrack is pretty awesome – and you can listen to the songs here!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The next project with a killer soundtrack we’re going to talk about is Guardians of the Galaxy. The third installment of the Guardians series is set to release in theaters on May 3, and we can’t wait to see where in the galaxy our heroes are going next. At the beginning of the new MCU movie, the Guardians are just starting to settle into a calm life in Knowhere, but of course, their peace can’t last long.

Basically, Rocket’s complicated past catches up to all of them and forces them to deal with a new threat to their lives. Along with that, there’s also Peter Quill trying to cope with the loss of Gamora, but there’s no time to fully work on that because the crew has to save Rocket’s life. And since this is the Guardians, of course the mission is going to be life-threatening. We can’t wait to see how (and if) they get out of that one.

Ahsoka

We have been obsessing over this show ever since Rosario Dawson showed up in The Mandalorian as Ahsoka Tano and Disney announced that was just the beginning of her run as the character, as Disney+ would soon have a whole series focused on Ahsoka. And for those of us who had been missing her since finishing the animated Star Wars series she appeared in, that was huge news!

Ahsoka takes place after the fall of the Empire, around the same time as The Mandalorian, and focuses on… you guessed it… former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano. Quick rundown in case you have no idea who she is: she is Anakin’s former padawan who eventually decides to leave the Jedi Order. Now, during the show, we’ll get to see what her life is like after the Empire ends, but the galaxy is still very much vulnerable to new threats. Ahsoka premieres on Disney+ this August!

And that brings us to the end of another Binge-Worthy Buzz. We hope you’ve enjoyed our list and if you did, tell us about it! You can find us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, so come chat with us.
