(No one is surprised that we have bad processing skills, it’s part of our charm.)
I was in the studio and this moment of just deep frustration came over me and I finally started to feel this inspiration come. And honestly, in that moment, it felt like it was the first time I felt that in a year and a half in the studio.

This is one of the reasons we love Shawn Mendes as much as we do. He’s not only an amazing artist, but he’s an awesome person! I think I still am in a very confused place, but I know that there are some people in my life who I deeply love, and I know that music is something I deeply love, and I know that this planet is something I deeply love. And all of those three things are something worth fighting for and worth dying for. And I think that was where that energy was coming from.

This Song Has Changed Our Lives!
We knew it was going to be a good song simply because it’s Shawn Mendes. What we didn’t know was that ‘What The Hell Are We Dying For?’ was going to become one of our favorite Shawn songs. It has surpassed all the OG faves. It’s that good.
We have been absolutely ruining our vocal chords by screaming along to this song. The chorus alone deserves to be in a Hall of Fame. Can we just box up Shawn and put him in The Honey POP’s Hall of Fame? (It was totally a thing before this. We definitely didn’t just make that up for Shawn!)
I’m just happy that I broke through that horrible wall of writer’s block and I’m creating again. I’m just happy about that. And I’m just going to keep going, keep making some songs because I really think that there’s something in here.

With the song and the interview, we can only hope to hear more from our favorite Canadian in the coming weeks!
