These Stripped Back Tracks Make Us Melt

Stripped-back/ acoustic renditions of tracks have always enticed us, so naturally, we had to make this list of our top ten favorites. We somehow compiled ten of the vocalists in music today and some of their absolute best performances to date. get ready to be in your feels and dive into these performances with us!

Charlie Puth – ‘Light Switch’

Light Switch’ was already a track we simply can’t get enough of. To date, it is one of our favorite Charlie Puth tracks. You can tell he’s more in his element and that Charlie, his next album, is going to blow us away. While we didn’t think we could love ‘Light Switch’ more, the acoustic version went and blew that out of the water. Charlie Puth has a voice like butter, and we could spend hours listening to him sing in this setting. So raw and incredibly beautiful. We are ready to see Charlie Puth become the staple in pop music that he is destined to be with this new era.

Anne-Marie & Ed Sheeran – ‘2002’

It’s no secret that Ed Sheeran has a voice that is straight-up angelic, but y’all have to stop sleeping on Anne-Marie’s voice! This acoustic version of the nostalgic bop that is ‘2002’ proves that her talent is out of this world. This track has a way of always putting us in a better mood, and even being stripped back that mood stays steady. These two need to put out a full project together, we’re begging at this point.

Nick Jonas – ‘Jealous’

We all know that Nick Jonas can belt, he has one of the craziest ranges in music. But man, somehow his vocal talent shines even more with this acoustic version of his hit, ‘Jealous.’ ‘Jealous’ is one of those tracks that when you really listen to the lyrics, they tell a deeper story of insecurity and fear, that becomes more clear when the track is this stripped back.

Shawn Mendes – ‘Mercy’

Right along with Nick Jonas as we mentioned above, Shawn Mendes has one of those voices where he can belt for his life. His range is otherworldly and in this acoustic version, the vulnerability of this track and the place he’s able to take his voice to really are at the forefront. Doing this in an empty arena was genius, the acoustics lend themselves beautifully.

And to think, he was only NINETEEN?!

MAX – ‘Lights Down Low’

This article has turned into us just simping for all of these insane lyricists, and we are perfectly okay with that! MAX blows us away with every performance, stripped back or not, but ‘Lights Down Low’ was meant to be performed in this exact way. We genuinely had chills throughout listening to this whole thing.

Julia Michaels – ‘Worst In Me’

Julia Michaels has such a unique, and stunning voice, and getting to see it shine as it does on this version of ‘Worst In Me’ is such a treat. From the setting of the video to the clear emotion in the track, we couldn’t love it more. We’d argue that this performance shows off the best in her!

Hozier – ‘Take Me To Church’

This is one of the single greatest performances of a song of all time. Every time we watch this video, we are left absolutely floored that this much talent exists in one person with absolutely zero forms of production, just Hozier’s voice and killer acoustics. ‘Take Me To Church’ is already such an emotion-packed track and this setting, of course, enhances that.

Lewis Capaldi – ‘Bruises’

Bruises’ is a track we’ve cried to a million times, and most of those times has been to this stripped-back version. Something about Lewis Capaldi singing the line “I hope I never lose the bruises that you left behind” with so much vulnerability and emotion in his voice just kills us.

Miley Cyrus – ‘Jolene’

Miley Cyrus is an absolute force – she has one of those voices that can handle any genre with ease. She has given a million performances we could have used on this list, but we had to go with her rendition of one of the most beloved songs of all time: her godmother Dolly Parton’s hit, ‘Jolene.’

Harry Styles – ‘Sign of The Times’

Come on, we had to include a Harry Styles performance. He’s done quite a few stripped-back tracks, it was a tough choice between this ‘Sign Of The Times’ one or ‘Girl Crush.’ Harry has such a soft, yet strong voice that lends itself beautifully to tracks of this nature.
