You already know that we are going to be sitting in a theater watching the BARBIE movie this July. Everything we know about the film so far has us losing our minds. You know what else we can’t stop freaking out over? The soundtrack! This isn’t just BARBIE: THE ALBUM; this is about to be the soundtrack to our lives. From the moment we saw the tracklist, we knew this was it, our new personality!
Now, we get the release of Charli XCX‘s track ‘Speed Drive,’ which is one of the tracks we’re most excited to hear! And in proper Charli XCX fashion, this one is truly for the baddies only.
Put It Into Speed Drive
‘Speed Drive’ is an upbeat synth-pop THP-certified banger. Coming in at just under two minutes, this one is made for those main character moments that deserve a girl boss anthem in the background. Charli knows that she creates pure art, and why would we ever try to deny her that truth? When she started teasing this release on TikTok, we knew her power was about to be immeasurable by mankind. The teaser even gave us a new scene from the film that features Charli’s track!
The release of ‘Speed Drive’ comes after a chain of hits from the soundtrack. ‘Barbie World’ by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice, ‘Angel’ by PinkPantheress, and ‘Dance The Night’ by Dua Lipa are just some of the releases so far! It’s definitely helping us stay calm until July 21st, when we can watch BARBIE in theaters. Then stream BARBIE: THE ALBUM on our way to Olive Garden afterward, of course!
