Han is one of the key elements behind the perfection that is Stray Kids’ discography. With his own solo songs and the songs he writes for the entire group, Han has given us beautiful songs that we could never forget. His lyrics have a way of going straight to our hearts and every single song is its own world and special in its own unique way. But here are some of our favorite lyrics he has ever written.
Trigger warning: this article includes lyrics that touch on depression, anxiety, loss and grief.
‘VOLCANO’ (2023)
I’m the drought, you’re rain, I’m paper, you’re a poem, your attention changes the brightness of my empty heart, you’re light.
‘VOLCANO’ is a song that explores the complicated feelings of loving someone that could be bad for you, yet brings you to life. It’s a Han song, of course it has to be full of complicated angst and different nuances and heartbreaking at the same time. The opening of the second verse has to be one of our favorite moments! ‘VOLCANO’ is about inevitable love and finding someone who completes you against all odds, and these lyrics show the unconditional love Han writes about.
‘Another Day’ (GO LIVE, 2020)
Everyone hides their inner self behind their masks, so I got used to the word loneliness.

‘Another Day’ was released back in 2020 on Stray Kids’ first full-length album. It’s a soft acoustic guitar song that details an entire day full of anxiety, worrying, and feeling lonely. The last verse is the one that hits the most and that makes this song so haunting yet relatable. ‘Another Day’ exemplifies how everyone has their own demons and yet we are left alone to deal with them.
‘Wish You Back’ (2021)
It would be impossible to pick just one lyric from ‘Wish You Back!’ This song is too beautiful all the way through and so many of its lyrics had such a long-lasting impression on all of us. ‘Wish You Back’ literally changed our brain chemistry.
You were the main character in the movie called me
Such a simple one, yet the imagery behind this one single line is so insane it hasn’t left our brains since 2021. With one line alone, Han embodied the feeling of making someone your everything. The fact that it is in past tense makes it so painful and represents the longing of this song so well.
Watering a withered flower won’t make it bloom again. Even the pinky finger that made the promise not to be defeated all disappeared and crumbled after your goodbye.
The helplessness of losing someone you love is represented the best by this bridge. Han’s bridges always hit the hardest and this is an example of it. The simple act of a pinky promise being broken makes it feel like the attachment to this person was so pure and innocent, yet it couldn’t withhold life from happening. ‘Wish You Back’ is one of the most beautiful songs about longing for someone and missing them.
‘Collision’ (5-STAR, 2023)
The memory of us saying we were destiny feels like a star in the sky, as time went on, we crumbled when we met, the remnants orbit the entire universe tonight.

On Stray Kids’ latest album, 5-STAR, Han wrote two songs: ‘GET LIT’ and ‘Collision’ – both with very different vibes, needless to say. ‘Collision’ compares love to two planets colliding and their pieces being scattered around space. It represents the pain of a relationship falling apart and how every single relationship takes a piece of you to be lost forever. The chorus embodies Han’s incredible metaphor the best, and it lowkey physically hurts.
‘Hold On’ (2023)
By the time the embers that stick tight to my sadness slowly burn out and turn to white ashes, when the remaining ashes are blown away, I will call your name once again.
Grief can be a complicated and painful process. Han wrote ‘Hold On’ after Seungmin came to him with the idea of writing a song about the loss of a pet. The bridge exemplifies how sometimes the pain of grief feels like it’s too much to bear, how it feels like grief is only pain. However, it leaves a space for hope that he will be able to celebrate the life of what he loves so much in the future. The way Han writes about it is simply beautiful, and along with Seungmin’s voice singing, it makes this moment of the song so real and special.
‘Miserable (You & Me)’ (2023)
I stretched out my hand towards a hopeless future and poured myself out.
‘Miserable (You & Me)’ is about a relationship that is falling apart. While he tries to hold onto it as tight as possible, the other person has already given up. There are so many lyrics in this one that rip our hearts apart, but this one sums it up. This whole verse feels like he is in a conversation, and when he reaches toward his “hopeless future,” he reaches toward the person who has already let go. Not many lyrics are able to hold the pain of holding on for too long quite like this one.
‘I SEE (Prod. J.One, CB97)’ (3DAYS, 2017)
Even if the clock hands stop for a while, the flowers will definitely bloom someday. A wavering fantasy, even if it’s only a mirage, I’ll definitely catch you.
as translated by Genius Korea
Last but definitely not least is a throwback to 3RACHA‘s second mixtape with Han’s solo song, ‘I SEE.’ The song is filled with hope, passion, and ambition as he craves to reach his dream. The last verse is the most beautiful, describing the uncertainty of reaching his dream yet not giving up on it. You can already see the type of imagery Han loves to put into his lyrics, and we also love it. ‘I SEE’ is a super personal song that shows the beginnings of Han’s journey as an artist. It makes it hit even harder when realizing that Han did end up catching his dream! And we couldn’t be happier to see it happen in front of our eyes.
