IT WAS NEVER A PHASE MOM: New Blink-182, Poppy, & More!

Over here at The Honey POP! we’re always doing our best to make it clear that our emo phase wasn’t a phase; it’s in our DNA. So naturally, when we hear the words “new music” in regards to some of our favorite bands from the scene, we kinda lose it! Thankfully, we aren’t too worried about Losing What We Love thanks to the dedication these bands/artists have to releasing kicka** music. But what we do have is an abundance of things to say about it! So, let’s dive right in and talk about what matters – emo music!

As if having Tom rejoin the band wasn’t worth celebrating enough, Blink-182’s new album is truly for us. And by us, I mean die-hard Blink fans across the globe! ONE MORE TIME… truly feels like home to us, and we love the honesty the band is showing within the album. The band got together with none other than Zane Lowe to discuss the record as well. Diving especially deep into the track ‘YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’VE GOT,’ which showcases Mark’s deepest emotions and struggles, with the support of his long-time friends and bandmates. Whether you’ve been a fan of Blink-182 from the start or just diving in – this record is something unlike any other before it.

Plain White T’s – ‘Fired Up’

Plain White T’s have never stopped releasing absolute bangers, and ‘Fired Up‘ is no different. The track is another masterpiece from the group. With its cheeky lyrics and engrossing melodies, it has something for everyone. Lead singer Tom Higgenson said, “Somehow, it’s energetic and lazy, amped up and chill, all at the same time. I think it might be the best song on the album. It’s all about looking around and seizing the day. A total feel-good song, but in an odd, quirky way. I don’t think it’s possible to listen to it without smiling.” And honestly, we can’t agree more! This might be our favorite release from their upcoming self-titled record yet!

Poppy – ‘Hard’

Where do we even begin when it comes to our beloved, Poppy? Her new single ‘Hard’ comes in the growing anticipation of her album Zig, which is dropping everywhere on October 27th. The track builds to a full break of Poppy screaming the lyrics, “No spine, no right, no love, no dice – I always pay the price.” The video shows her not only slaying the bass guitar but truly becoming the energy of ‘Hard.’ We may not ever stop talking about Poppy or Zig once it’s finally in our hands, but honestly, can you blame us?! She’s a GRAMMY-nominated icon for a reason!

Knuckle Puck – Losing What We Love

This is a release we have genuinely been counting down the days until lately. But the day has finally come, and Losing What We Love is officially ours! It comes with the release of the music video for their track ‘You & I’ off the record, which is a track about “…being acutely aware of how much somebody sucks as a person and looking forward to cutting ties with them” as the band put it themselves. And if that isn’t something we relate to… then what do we even relate to anymore? This is the fourth album from Knuckle Puck, and somehow, they crush it more and more with each release.
