It’s ‘Not My Fault’ We’re Obsessed With Reneé Rapp

Another Reneé Rapp article… sorry, not sorry! If there is one person we love writing about, it’s her! 2023 was a massive year for Reneé, and it’s not slowing down anytime soon. Her newest project, Mean Girls, is about to take the world by storm in January 2024. With that comes new music for the movie (yay!). The first drop, ‘Not My Fault,’ features Megan Thee Stallion and is probably the best song to come out of December.

Who knew we’d be rooting for Regina George this time around? Certainly not us. But we’re here for it! 🩷 One of the most exciting parts about this new drop is Megan’s verses throughout the song! Two powerhouse vocalists and songwriters on one powerful song is just what we needed.

The song opens with the iconic line from the original Mean Girls movie, “You know what? It’s not my fault you’re like in love with me or something!” This phrase couldn’t be any more accurate as we are so deeply in love with both Reneé and Megan. The lyrics just get better and better as the song goes on. Reneé’s ability to bring a dash of comedy into her writing is one of the things we love about her music.

“Yeah, I’m back, b**ch, are you done? Excuse me while I bite my tongue.”

“Get her number, get her name / Get a good thing while you can / Kiss a blonde (Kiss a blonde), kiss a friend / Can a gay girl get an ‘Amen?'”

We’re saying “Amen,” baby! The song hints at the possibility of a gay Regina George in the new movie, which we are all over! Other than the fabulous music, we’re excited to see how Reneé interprets Regina George on screen versus on the Broadway stage 🌟.
