5 Lizzy McAlpine Songs To Listen To Before Older

Lizzy McAlpine just announced her newest album and released the title track ‘Older’ alongside it! We’re so excited for Lizzy’s new album and are anxiously awaiting April 5th. Lizzy’s new single is all about the next steps in life and growing up, in honor of that we have five tracks that perfectly capture Lizzy’s career and musical journey so far.

‘gone’

‘gone’ is the sixth track on Lizzy’s first project nice! Even at the start of her career, Lizzy has always been a force to be reckoned with. This song has it all, great lyrics, beautiful vocals, and amazing production. Lizzy sings “I write my feelings on paper in the form of a song, like this will help me along,” which feels so nostalgic as we think about the growth in her discography from then to now.

‘Pancakes For Dinner’

This track is so sweet that we just had to include it! One of the themes commonly found in Lizzy’s music is love and this track is the epitome of it. Lizzy talks about all of the things she would do with the person she’s singing about, if only they were together. It’s a confessional piece which is proven by the lyrics “I’ll try to hide the way I feel, but I’ll just wanna shout. What do I have to lose right now?

‘ceilings’

If you were on TikTok at all this past year, there’s a good chance you heard this song! ‘ceilings’ was a major hit and for good reason. Lizzy McAlpine tells a story, starting with “lovely to be rained on with you, it’s kinda cute but it’s so short. Then you’re driving me home and I don’t want to leave but I have to go.” Which is followed by “But it’s over then you’re driving me home and it kinda comes out as I get up to go. You kiss me in your car and it feels like the start of a movie I’ve seen before.” The song has an amazing plot twist at the end so we highly recommend giving it a listen!

‘orange show speedway’

‘orange show speedway’ is the closing track to five seconds flat and one of our all time favorites from Lizzy! The upbeat track and reminiscent lyrics makes it perfect to sing along to. It’s an underrated gem in her discography and your bound to love it!

‘Older’

We couldn’t possibly write an article about Lizzy’s music journey and not include her newest single! ‘Older’ has had us all in tears, it’s a beautiful track and it’s made us even more excited for Lizzy’s new album. She sings “mom’s getting older, I’m wanting it back. Where no one is dying, and no one is hurt,” which may be the saddest lyric in the track so consider yourself warned! ‘Older’ is a testament to Lizzy’s growth both as a person and as a musical artist. We couldn’t be prouder of her and we can’t wait to hear Older in it’s entirety.
