There hasn’t been a day that’s gone by that we haven’t listened to at least one song off of CALM by 5 Seconds of Summer. Not to mention the fact we never stopped mourning the No Shame Tour and all it could have been. But even through the losses we experienced in the CALM era, we still have so many things about it we can’t get enough of. So instead of focusing on what could have been, let’s take a look back at all the beautiful things that we did get and still love to this day!
Carpool Karabloke
This might be one of the most loved videos in the fandom if we’re being honest. This is one we know word for word, and it’s because it perfectly encompasses why we love the boys as much as we do. From the banter, dances, and ways they clearly are so hyped about what they’re doing at that moment — it’s a perfect representation of them as people and friends. The passion they have for their band and the music they create only rivals our own. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love it when Luke Hemmings enters Host Mode?
Spilling The Quarantea
What’s more on brand for 5SOS than a 45-minute-long video where they’re doing absolutely nothing besides sharing a single brain cell? Absolutely nothing! This video is one we think of and watch in our one-brain cell moments as well. We also love how they definitely came into this with a mission, and did they accomplish that? Most likely not, but we got something arguably better out of it!
The Live From The Vault Performances
One thing about 5 Seconds of Summer, is they’re going to body a live performance. And that was one assignment they took to the next level during the CALM era. The ‘Live From The Vault’ tracks were some of the lead singles the boys decided to record live versions of. Given that we also missed out on this tour and had to wait extra long to hear those singles live, this truly was a blessing in disguise in many ways. Not to mention the grip these videos have on us. Yes, we’re talking about you Luke Hemmings from the ‘Easier (Live From The Vault)’ music video.
Ashton Speaks
During the hype-up of this album, we received a short video series from none other than Mr. Ashton Irwin himself. These were videos of him interviewing his bandmates on various topics, writing music, live performances, them as people, etc. Now, we only have two installments of this series with Luke and Calum being guest stars on their own respective videos. So maybe the Michael addition is Ash saving the best for last? Either way, we kind of need to know where it is and how we can get our hands on it. But that doesn’t change how much we love these two and watch the hell out of them in the meantime!
The CALM era truly has a chokehold on us until the day we die. And how could blame us? From the fire tracks on the album, the moments we got with the boys during its era, and the trauma bond that is a quarantine release — this album is one of a kind.
