2023 was full of “memories we hold to keep safe,” and of course, 5 Seconds of Summer filled up two whole filing cabinets in our brains. From festivals to live albums and professional saucers to fathers, 5SOS took 2023 on a wild ride. So buckle up, folks; we’re “chasing the pain again” because 2023 was a year to remember. And yes, that is a tear in our eyes.
The Magic of Royal Albert Hall From Our Couch and Headphones
5SOS took us back in time to relive The Feeling of Falling Upwards with a live album and concert film! To 5SOS fam, this concert stood as a proud reminder of where the band has been, what they’ve achieved, and the exciting future ahead. Immersing us back into the stunning architecture and coupled with the orchestra and choir, if we close our eyes, it feels like we’re still there.
One thing about 5 Seconds of Summer is that they know how to put on a show, and with the hall’s acoustics continuously ringing in our ears, the live album created an immersive and emotionally resonant experience. And ‘Bad Omens’ live at Royal Albert Hall… we’re speechless. Nothing more iconic than that.
Rolling Dice at The 5 Seconds of Summer Show
5 things to describe 5SOS tour? Punk jumps, ketchup, confetti, besties and a giant big red dice. (IYKYK and if you don’t we got you.)
From the 5SOS Sauce skits reminding us why we adore these guys, to them bringing back their iconic punk jump, and, just when we thought the energy couldn’t soar any higher, BOOM confetti shower – this tour was one for the books, bringing everyone together and making us feel like we were part of a vibrant, colorful world created by 5SOS themselves.
The moment of hearing ‘Best Friends’ live surrounded by people we’ve grown close to, even if it was just from the 24 hours in line, was captured perfectly by The Best Friends Cam scanning the crowds. Talk about a shared experiences. Yes, we just became besties with every 5SOS fan, we aren’t called the 5SOS Fam for nothing.
And how could we forget the giant dice? It wasn’t just a prop; it was a portal to our favorite 5SOS classics. Each throw was a heart-racing gamble that had even the band shook. The thought and energy behind The 5 Seconds of Summer Show shined throughout the sets and we can not wait until we get to see our favs back on stage. We can only imagine how they’ll top this one.
5SOS Take a Step Back in Time at When We Were Young Fest

When We Were Young Fest wasn’t just a gig on the calendar for 5 Seconds of Summer; it was a defining moment in their career, a testament to their evolution and a tribute to their roots. The festival, a nostalgic revival of pop-punk and emo culture, provided the perfect platform for the band to connect with their musical influences and showcase their own contributions to the genre.
Their setlist for the festival was a perfect blend of old and new, the energy was electric, the crowd was ecstatic, and the band was absolutely fantastic (as usual).
And how can we forget the most ‘awww’ moment of the year? 5SOS’s very own Michael Clifford becoming a dad! Rounding out 2023, we are reminded of how we’ve grown up with this band.
