When we saw our girl Taylor Acorn‘s Survival In Motion album announcement, we screamed we cannot lie. We love Taylor Acorn in this household and don’t you forget it. Her debut album Survival In Motion drops on September 13th and we don’t know how we’re going to survive the wait honestly. Luckily for us, Taylor gifted us title track ‘Survival In Motion’ to hold us over until then <3
I feel like I’ve been waiting a lifetime to be able to say “I’m putting out a debut album”, but in all honesty I’m so glad I waited for as long as I have
Taylor Acorn
That got us thinking about all the other Taylor Acorn tracks we love. So we bring you our list of Taylor Acorn tracks you should listen to to get yourself hyped up for Survival In Motion.
‘Survival In Motion’
‘Survival In Motion’ aka our lifeline until the album drops is Taylor’s newest release. Like all of her other releases, we instantly fell in love with it because like…how could we not?
“We all grow up but still fall short
Then get back up like it’s a chore
All searching for serotonin
Call it survival in motion”
This upbeat and catchy track dives into the rat race we’re all living, doing our best to survive in a crazy world. Sometimes all you can really do to survive is to get up and keep on moving forward. This track, along with ‘Greener’ hints at an album theme of moving forward and having hope for a better tomorrow and frankly, we could use some hope!
‘Greener’
This is quite possibly one of our most favorite Taylor Acorn tracks tbh. ‘Greener’ is anthemic pop punk at its best and Taylor Acorn has crafted a track we want to scream along to forever. It’s uplifting and makes us feel hopeful about the future. The grass really can be greener on the other side and there is a light at the end of that tunnel. We find ourselves singing this one out loud a lot and that should tell you everything you need to know about its power as a pop-punk track.
I feel like I’ve finally found my sound — I’ve fallen in love with every single song in it’s own right
Taylor Acorn
‘Certified Depressant’
The title track off of Taylor’s Certified Depressant EP will always be a favorite of ours. This track, along with the whole EP, captures mental health struggles and feeling like a wreck, which is a feeling many of us are familiar with. Her powerhouse vocals and the anthemic quality of ‘Certified Depressant’ make it a “must listen to” Taylor Acorn track in our opinion.
‘Coma’
Not only did ‘Coma’ go hard but ‘Coma’ ft. Cassadee Pope went even harder. Two powerhouse female vocalists coming together on one track like this absolutely blew us away. ‘Coma’ is intense, powerful, raw, and hits home if you’ve ever experienced something similar. Coming out of a bad relationship or situation and feeling like you were in a coma or not yourself that entire time is all too real. ‘Coma’ is such a solid track and will definitely have you hyped for more Taylor music.
‘Shapeshifting’
‘Shapeshifting’ was one of the first Taylor Acorn tracks we ever heard and we hold it near and dear to our hearts. It’s quite an emotional track and Taylor’s powerful vocals really drive that emotion home. It’s become a go-to comfort song of ours because it feels like someone really sees us and sees the struggles we might be facing. Taylor Acorn’s music going from ‘Shapeshifting’ to ‘Greener’ is kind of beautiful when you think about it. It’s growth and hope and a real visualization of the idea that things get better and we absolutely love that.
And there you have it, 5 tracks that we think you should absolutely listen to to prepare for this album. This is by no means an exhaustive list because we love Taylor’s entire discography. We didn’t even talk about ‘High Horse’ or ‘Basement’ or ‘Famous Last Words’ or…well you get the idea.
In addition to the release of Survival In Motion, Taylor Acorn is going on tour! Not only will she be joining Dashboard Confessional and Boys Like Girls but she’ll also be doing some of her own headlining shows all over the US. You can grab tickets for those shows. What city will we see you in?
