We had the greatest pleasure of attending the final night of idobi’s Summer School tour in Anaheim at City National Grove of Anaheim. With a stacked lineup, consisting of artists like The Home Team, Honey Revenge, Scene Queen: there was no way we could complain about having to go to Summer School. Want to see what all went down at the tour of the summer? Stick around to see which artists we got photos of!
Noelle Sucks
One of our newest pop punk girlies kicked off the show with an insane powerhouse voice that we wanted to continue to listen to over and over again. Noelle Sucks didn’t just have a phenomenal voice, she had a stage presence that woo’ed the crowd and kept us hooked from the very first song. 10/10 would recommend listening to her song ‘Crumbs‘ which was just ONE of our favorite songs from her set!

Letdown.
We’ve spoken about Letdown. on The Honey POP before and seeing him live only made us that much more of a fan! Singing songs of their debut album, Crying in the Shower, this band had us jumping in our spot for the duration of their set. Even with a heart-wrenching song like ‘Crying in the Shower,’ we were singing and dancing along. We love a good upbeat sad song. Why lie! Also, honorable mention to the show his hair was giving. The long luscious curls had us stunned!

Honey Revenge
Next up we had a veteran band that we LIVE FOR at The Honey POP — our dearest, Honey Revenge! Our fellow bee lovers! Opening up their set with their newest single, ‘Recipe for Disaster,’ Donny and Devin kept the energy up! Just straight up banger after banger. Some could say we were thoroughly impressed…….. Get it? They closed out their set with their most streamed song to date, ‘Airhead‘ and we couldn’t have asked for a better closing song. Devin joined us in the crowd and gave it her ALL, stating she was most excited to be playing a hometown show. We love to see it!

The Home Team
We are HUUUUGE fans of this Seattle-based heavy pop band and when we saw their name on the Summer School lineup, it just made our entire year. With the recent release of their new album, The Crucible of Life, we didn’t know what to expect from their setlist. And of course, we weren’t even slightly disappointed. Let’s start off with the band’s crew, and some of the members from the other bands on tour, coming out with these insanely large cut outs of all the boys’ faces PLUS someone in an inflatable elephant suit AND someone in this massive rat costume– we were sitting there with our jaws on the ground from the excitement of all the chaos. In the rat costume was none other than lead singer Brian Butcher who was just so full of excitement and happiness as they opened with ‘Brag.’ Ryne and John have so much energy, we literally cannot fathom how they keep it up for a 45-minute set! We didn’t want their set to end but we knew there was so much more coming at this show!

Magnolia Park
Next up we had a band with a much heavier than the rest of the ones we’d seen so far. Magnolia Park put on a show for the AGES! Opening up with ‘Misfits‘ was the way to go; It set up the tone for the rest of their set. One of our favorite songs from their set was ‘Unholy Heart’ which is a Magnolia Park and Honey Revenge collab! Devin joined the boys on stage and that was just the start of the unexpected collabs we would see throughout the rest of the night. We were 5 bands in, 2 more to go, and we were over the moon with excitement for what the rest of the night might bring.

Scene Queen
Next up, we had the queen herself! Wearing the cutest pink floral fit, Scene Queen gave us a phenomenal show. The silly banter, the stage aesthetics, the stacked setlist! We were truly honored to be in her presence. ‘Barbie & Ken‘ was the highlight of her set simply because she brought out her boyfriend, Joey Fleming, to sing it along with her. The chemistry the two had was undeniable! Finish off her set with her most streamed song, ‘Pink Rover,’ we were more than satisfied with her performance.

Stand Atlantic
Last, and certainly not least, our reigning faves from Sydney, Australia! Stand Atlantic opened with undoubtedly their best song, ‘WARZ0NE‘ and the crowd went wild. Bonnie has these vocals that immediately take you in and you have no other option than to bang your head and sing along. Only two songs in, majority of the members from the other bands on the tour joined StAt on stage to do a shoey. You know, just casual Aussie things. And during their song ‘GIRL$‘ they had all the female musicians and crew members join them on stage to give them the recognition they deserve! During ‘Lavender Bones,’ another group of other band members and crew decided to have a little yoga stretch while Bonnie and the crowd sang their lungs out. The chaos only ensured we were going to leave the show filled with so much serotonin. They closed out their set with ‘deathwish’ off their second most recent album, with Joshua Roberts from Magnolia Park joining them on stage to do the little rap verse.
