It’s that time of the year when we celebrate everything The Boyz have given us in the past year, and on the same occasion, they give us the perfect song to celebrate the holidays. This year is a bit different, though, a bit more special, a bit sad, but also extremely hopeful at the same time. Not many groups get to the 7-year mark, and even fewer groups are able to move on from their label with the same lineup under the same name and move to better places. Those are all things The Boyz did, and this may be the closing of the first chapter, but it’s also the beginning of many others. So, despite the name of the special single, this is far from being the last time we hear from The Boyz.
‘Last Kiss’
The Boyz have given us incredibly iconic songs for ‘Christmas—’Christmassy!’ being the prime example. This year, ‘Last Kiss’ shows a new style for their Christmas catalogue. Indeed, this time, The Boyz came out with a hip-hop/pop track inspired by the 90s. This love song is perfect to add something special, cheerful yet laid-back, to your Christmas playlists. It’s unique and memorable and very The Boyz in every way.
Probably the most special thing about it, though, is the music video. To commemorate seven years together, The Boyz released a music video for ‘Last Kiss’ that takes us through memory lane. They take us all the way back, right from their pre-debut days to their debut, their different eras, their wins, their tours, and their most special moments together. ‘Last Kiss’ is an amazing song, but with all the emotions it carries, it’s already one of their most special songs.
The B-Sides
In previous years, The Boyz released one song, and that was enough to make our entire month. But the release of ‘Last Kiss’ is different because this special single has two other Christmas-themed songs. The Boyz made sure to be all over our Christmas playlists this year.
Both of the B-sides are also different takes on Christmas songs than their previous song. ‘Candle Light’ is a much smoother song; it’s chill and relaxed, all while giving us the best of 2000s pop music influence. It’s one of those Christmas songs we definitely can see ourselves listening to throughout the entire year, and while ‘Winter Sleep’ is a much more traditional Christmas song, the same thing can be said about it. ‘Winter Sleep’ has immaculate vibes with its acoustic guitar and beautiful pop ballad melodies. It’s an extremely sweet song that showcases their vocals and their harmonies in the most gorgeous way. If The Boyz’s anniversary wasn’t special enough this year, they sure made it even more memorable. We will never forget these seven years with The Boyz, and we can’t wait for what the next chapter will bring us.
