3 Times The Boyz Blew Us Away By Reimagining Songs

The Boyz are no strangers to taking songs and completely re-inventing them. Through the years, they’ve given us countless iconic covers that live rent-free in our minds. Sometimes, they even made the songs their own. There have even been times when The Boyz completely reimagined their own songs, and here are the ones that blew us away!

‘Electric Energy’

The latest addition to their re-imagined songs is already one of our favorites. The Boyz went ahead and completely reinvented one of the main songs featured in Argylle after the director himself, Matthew Vaughn, picked them. The original version is a disco track full of energy, but The Boyz‘ version takes the song to a whole other style. Jacob and Kevin’s take on the song is slowed down. ‘Electric Energy’ sounds more like a ballad, and it fits their voices beautifully. It became more sophisticated, even mysterious, and full of emotion. The song may feature only two vocalists, but their soft voices build throughout the track and blend together seamlessly. There are many reasons why Moonbae is such an iconic duo, and here’s one of them – their voices are incredible together. They gave another life to ‘Electric Energy,’ and we love every second of it.

‘Reveal (Catching Fire)’

For us, there was a before and an after this performance. It’s been four years, and we’re still here. The Boyz re-invented ‘Reveal’ for Road to Kingdom, and this performance was an essential piece in them winning the entire show. It all comes down to how to rearrange the song to make its build-up even more impactful than the original. The first part of the song is dramatic and delicate, all for it to completely explode by the end. The way this track manages to build tension still gives us chills to this day. ‘Reveal’ is one of The Boyz‘s more iconic and impactful title tracks, and reimagining it was a challenge. Yet, the ‘Catching Fire’ version is just as good as the original ‘Reveal.’

‘No Air (A Song of Ice and Fire)’

When it came to re-inventing another one of their iconic songs, The Boyz picked ‘No Air’ and did a complete one-eighty with it. The bright and refreshing sound of ‘No Air’ turned into a mysterious, tragic, and enticing song with a theme inspired by Game of Thrones. The melody in the chorus is so iconic that anyone who has been near K-Pop knows it. The Boyz gave an entirely different life to this alternative version of ‘No Air‘ that surprised us all. With this performance, ‘No Air’ found a new meaning, leading to one of their most impressive performances ever.
