We are back with the best of what’s new in music! From Lewis Capaldi, to Lorde, to Michael Cimino, it’s a stacked list!
Syd Taylor – After The Fact
We are kicking off this week’s new music coverage with Syd Taylor’s debut (!!!) album After The Fact! If you haven’t done yourself the favor of exploring the musical world of Syd, now is the perfect time! After The Fact features five previously released songs, seven brand new tracks, and covers her entire discography! We have found this album to be a true pop masterclass, showing that even as an artist who hasn’t put out multiple projects, there is a deeper understanding of how to craft within this space and genre. ‘Time to Go!’ is our favorite song off the record currently!

Michael Cimino – ‘reminds me of you’
Michael Cimino is an artist everyone needs to have on their radar and on their playlists! We’ve been long-time fans of Michael and can say with complete certainty that ‘reminds me of you’ feels like the most true-to-self, in-his-element track we’ve gotten so far. We love this darker, more emotion-driven vibe and are hopeful for a full-length project, or at least an EP, soon!

Lorde – Virgin
Like everyone else, we are, of course, obsessed with Lorde’s latest album, Virgin. Lorde never fails to blow us away and to show why she’s considered one of the best sets of our generation. She’s made four flawless albums, each sounding like an artistic reinvention. Virgin is one of those albums that we feel like is going to keep growing on each person each time they listen to the record and find something new to appreciate. ‘Shapeshifter’ is our current favorite track.

Lydia Night – ‘Gutter’
‘Gutter’ is all about exploring your identity, about giving in to temptations. This marks the third release from Lydia Night leading up to her debut solo album, Parody Of Pleasure, which comes out next month! So far, ‘Gutter’ has been our favorite track, and it feels like it’s yet again unleashed a new side of Lydia’s songwriting abilities.

Alex Warren ft. ROSÉ – ‘On My Mind’
Even in our wildest musical dreams, we couldn’t have imagined this collaboration, but now that we have it, we have ‘On My Mind’ on a constant loop! ROSÉ and Alex are both able to fully shine on this track and bring what they do best to the table to make a cohesive pop track that is a strong contender for the song of the summer!

Lewis Capaldi – ‘Survivor’
Lewis Capaldi is back, and all is right in the musical world! ‘Survive,’ even for Lewis, who writes such stunningly heartbreaking songs, is pouring over with emotion. ‘Survive’ is a plea; it’s a promise to continue on. Just from one listen, you can clearly hear where Lewis has been the last two years and where he is now. We can already tell this song is going to deeply impact anyone who hears it.

Lauren Spencer Smith – THE ART OF BEING A MESS
The day is finally here! Two years after the release of her debut album, Mirror, Lauren Spencer Smith is back with THE ART OF BEING A MESS! This record, in every sense of the word, is a masterpiece. From the lyrics to the vocals to the sonic construction, you can see the artistic growth in every part of the album. From ‘Pray,’ which flexes Lauren’s songwriting muscle, to ‘IF KARMA DOESN’T GET YOU (I WILL),’ which feels like a cornerstone of this record and brings something totally new to the table.

Daya – ‘Demise’
We are closing out this week’s new music round-up with one of our favorites, Daya! Daya has been a mainstay in pop music for years and somehow just keeps getting better and better. ‘Demise’ is visually and sonically an instant discography highlight of Daya’s for us. We feel like with her last few releases, we are being introduced to a brand new artist, and we can’t wait to see where this era takes us!
