aespa’s debut full album, Armageddon, was a total cultural reset when it came out in 2024, and Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning are ready to shake up the music world yet again! They’re dropping their second studio album, LEMONADE, on May 29th and we are sooooo ready to see what these 10 new songs have in store for us. Just a few months after the album release, they’ll be performing around the world on their SYNK : COMPLæXITY Tour to bring their new music to life. MYs, are we prepared to be totally spoiled this year?!
The new Complæxity trailer for the album seems to tease that we’ll be returning to the sci-fi KWANGYA storylines – it starts with the girls in some kind of alternate world before we find out it was a film set, then ends with them finding a portal in the woods, which reminds us of them finding Nævis in the woods in ‘Welcome To MY World.’ There are also quite a few Easter eggs and references to their past work in the film set scenes, including Karina falling onto a car like she did in ‘Supernova,’ the return of ‘Whiplash’ Pinkselle (we’re blessed), Winter wielding a sword like in the ‘Girls’ video, and Ningning with a motorcycle like she had in her trailer for Drama.
To get hyped for the LEMONADE era, we sorted aespa’s existing OT4 discography into two playlists: Sweet and Sour! The Sweet playlist showcases the softer side of their work, often with themes like love and friendship, while the Sour playlist includes their edgier, confident songs that often incorporate their KWANGYA lore. Press play on both below and get ready to refresh your music library!
