It’s finally time to share what we’ve been cooking up behind the scenes. If you haven’t heard of dearALICE before, then allow THP to introduce you to your new favorite boyband! They’ve just released their sophomore EP, dancefloorKILLA, with seven tracks that we’ll be blasting on repeat for the foreseeable future.
We had the pleasure of chatting with the band on their new EP, recording days, and what’s next for them. So without further ado, here is our exclusive dearALICE interview!
Welcome to The Honey POP! We are so excited to chat with you today. To start us off, what are three things you would like new listeners to know about dearALICE?
We are British. We are a boyband. And we have great music. Oh, and maybe that we dance.. but that’s four now.
dancefloorKILLA E.P
You’re getting ready to release a new EP on September 25. Congratulations on that! How was your experience working on dancefloorKILLA?
Super fun. We got to lean fully into the sound we love as a band and working with various producers we got to throw crazy ideas around to make it something we are all really proud of. We can’t wait for everyone to hear!
So far, you’ve pre-released ‘Home With You,’ ‘Body On – Boys’ Version,’ and now ‘Animal’ from the EP. Which of these pre-releases is your personal favorite?
Oooh, I think ‘Animal’ has got to be the favourite (so far). It has such a distinct sound that would hook anyone into listening to it, and the choreography goes so hard for it too.
‘Animal’ is very much a club banger, which we think is synonymous with your discography. If you were on a night out at the club, what is THE song that would have you racing to the dance floor?
I think we’d all have slightly different answers so here’s four: for Blaise, it would be ‘RNP’ by Cordae; for Dexter, ‘Yeah’ by Usher; for Reese, ‘Do It Again’ by Pia Mia; and for Olly, it would be ‘DARE’ by the Gorillaz.
Recording & Rehearsals
The dancefloorKILLA E.P will be your first release as a quartet. How have things within the group changed in the last few months? Are the dynamics in recording and rehearsal any different?
Honestly, it’s just the same. We’re all best mates at the end of the day, so getting to record and rehearse, we get the hard work done but always have a good laugh too. I think our dynamic together only ever gets stronger as we learn more about each other as time goes on.
What does a normal recording day look like for you? Do you have any rituals or routines to prepare your voice?
We definitely all have our different ways of getting into a recording day. Reese needs his chocolate milk, Blaise has some crazy warmups, Dexter’s running for a match, while Olly is steaming his throat. There’s a ton of weird unique things we all do to get ready.
dearALICE’s Beginnings
Let’s take it back to the beginning: you guys officially debuted in 2025 with ‘Ariana.’ What was the start of your group’s career like compared to how it is now?
A little more chaotic, haha. We were still getting to know each other after training out in Korea, and we didn’t fully know what dearALICE was all about. We’ve definitely found that now, going into this new EP.
Similarly, how do you think your sound has evolved since your debut?
It’s definitely changed. Our sound was a little mixed up on the last EP, but this time around, we worked out what we all loved and leaned heavy into that. There’s much more of a world built into the sonic for this EP, which is really cool to hear.
You completed a 100-day training program with SM management, and we have to know: what was your biggest takeaway from that experience?
The level at which SM artists are held to is so high. There’s a reason why they are some of the best in the world to do it. We can only try each day to achieve the standard where they are at, and maybe one day we will touch it.
What’s Next
Now, to celebrate the release of your EP, you’ll be doing a series of signings and meet & greets. Then we see you’ve got a few UK shows in October. You guys are staying booked and busy! What are you most looking forward to in those events?
Getting to see all our fans, for sure. The familiar faces who come to all our events, as well as the ones we have never met before. We are truly so lucky to have such an amazing fanbase, and we can’t wait to see them all soon!
Do you have any goals and plans for the rest of 2026 as a group? Going into 2027, what can ACEZ expect to see?
Keep your eyes peeled for all things dearALICE. We are super excited for what the future has to hold and can’t wait to see where we are at in 2027. Expect more surprises and crazy songs!
