October started with a bang when GOT7’s Jay B announced he’d be releasing another project in 2026, titled Chptr. 1. After his mini album TR.EE and the incredible 2018.12.25 as Def., one of our favorite K-Pop leaders is back with a completely new project: Chptr. 1 is the first chapter of a new single series that goes in a different direction from all his other projects, and it’ll serve as the starting point for a series of more singles we cannot wait to hear.
‘Honeydew’
Jay B has always had a knack for breaking the mold and doing unexpected things with his music. This time, he chose to move away from his signature R&B sound for a little bit and make his title track a more pop-centric song filled with synthesizers and an electronic feel. ‘Honeydew’ is a completely new experience coming from Jay B, but it’s one we can’t help but be obsessed with.
‘Honeydew’ is all about the moment when different emotions come together, when two people become one through not only their feelings but also the music that surrounds them. Also can we just say that hearing Jay B sing, “In these feelings that only grow deeper / Dive into your heart / I’m here for ya, Honeydew,” got us giggling and blushing? Because it did.
‘Sweetie’
The new release also includes the highly anticipated ‘Sweetie,’ which we’ve all been dying to have on streaming platforms for ages now. Jay B has been performing it live during his tape: roots tour for the past few months. We all fell in love with it instantly but had no idea when we’d get to hear it on our headphones at home as well. Turns out the time is now!
His love letter to his fans already had a special place in our hearts since we first heard it, but having it included in Chptr. 1 just makes it even better. We especially love the lyric, “I can’t help but sing for you,” because we can’t help but fall more in love with Jay B’s music every day.
As usual, Jay B gave us another project full of heart and soul. It’s so clear how much he loves music and we genuinely cannot wait to see what else he’s working on for the future of this singles project. Whatever it is, we’ll be right here ready to tune in.
And if you thought this was it for Mr. Lim Jaebeom this year, you thought wrong! He’s also scheduled to appear at the 2026 K-Pop MASTERZ SPECIAL LIVE IN BANGKOK in Thailand alongside fellow GOT7 members, Bambam and Mark Tuan. During the event, they’ll all present solo stages as well as a special GOT7 stage. If we had to guess, we’d say be prepared to both laugh and cry with these boys on November 14 and 15.
Now, we want to hear from you! Let us know your favorite thing about ‘Honeydew’ and ‘Sweetie’ by finding us on Twitter @thehoneypop, or come hang out with us on Instagram and Facebook.
