TXT and Anitta have just dropped the best collaboration of the year; we’re being deadly serious. ‘Back For More’ is the pre-release from TXT’s The Name Chapter: FREEFALL, and if the rest of the album is as good as this, it will surely be a contender for AOTY!
‘Back For More,’ just like both artists who perform it, spans genres and crosses boundaries. The smooth track is carried by its groovy bassline and has its roots in disco-pop, but truly, it’s a song fit for the global audience it was designed for.
The track’s influences span the world and go back in time whilst still being completely on-trend in the present. We don’t think we’ll ever recover from Yeonjun and Taehyun’s Michael Jackson-inspired adlibs. Combine those with production reminiscent of The Weeknd’s earlier work and some Latin-pop references, and you’ve just created pop perfection.
“It All Feels Different… It All Makes Sense”
We don’t know about you guys, but we think choosing this song as the pre-release for the next album was literally genius. ‘Back For More’ is the perfect bridge between the TEMPTATION and FREEFALL eras! The whistling sounds and Latin-pop references make the song feel like ‘Sugar Rush Ride’ and ‘Tinnitus’ combined! However, this iteration is a lot more refined than the lost boys of TEMPTATION. There’s not a barefoot, ivy-covered idol in sight!
This era is off to a pretty good start, right? Plus, up next on September 18th, we have the ‘Back For More’ More Edition, with remixes and a TXT version to look forward to!
“I Can See You Comin’ Back For More”
First of all, we have to say that we love that Anitta and TXT actually filmed the music video together! So often, when you get a global collab like this one, the artists film separately and sometimes have never even met IRL. TXT and Anitta have so much chemistry! Anitta even went to Seoul before the release, and their friendship has been so fun to witness in all the content so far. Our leader Soobin even went as far as to say that Anitta really “opened her heart” to them… how are our hearts meant to cope with that?
Second, the MV really emphasizes how this is a brand-new era for TXT. They’re suited and booted, and we’ve never seen them look so sleek! These are not the bubblegum princes of ‘Blue Hour’ or the skater boys of ‘LO$ER=LOVER.’
The ‘Back For More’ music video reached 11.69 million views in its first 24 hours on YouTube, which is TXT’s third-best record after ‘Sugar Rush Ride’ and ‘CROWN!’
“There’s A Magic To What This Is”
TXT And Anitta debuted the track on the VMA stage this week, and it was seriously one of the night’s best performances. The Michael Jackson influence was clear to see in the choreo, and we loved to see Beomgyu, one of our fave dancers in K-Pop, take center stage for the intro.
The collab performance wasn’t the only reason the VMAs were a big night for Anitta and TXT! Nominated in a stunning four categories, TXT took home the Moon Person for Best Push Performance. Not bad for their first time at the VMAs, eh?
Queen Anitta also won Best Latin Music Video for the second year running! Not only that, she was the only artist to perform twice at this year’s ceremony. As well as ‘Back For More, Anitta had a solo stage of hits ‘Used To Be,’ ‘Funk Rave,’ and ‘Grip!’
Anitters were obviously obsessed with her performance, but they weren’t the only ones! Yeonjun posted a video on his personal Instagram of him cheering for Anitta; when we say this collab has been the cutest thing ever, we mean it!
