Choose Your Favorite Song From The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION, And We’ll Give You Two TXT B-Sides To Listen To

We’re not even two months in, and 2023 is already TXT’s year! Their new mini album, The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION, is already a huge hit and is taking TXT’s career to the next level. It’s what our 4th Gen It Boys deserve!

With preorders for The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION nearly double what they were for minisode 2: Thursday’s Child, the fandom’s growth has exploded, and it’s only going to keep growing! They’re the Billboard 200 number one, making them the fifth Korean group to top the chart. Moreover, they’ve charted seven different albums on the Billboard 200, a jaw-dropping feat that’s been outnumbered by only BTS. Plus, they’ve had multiple music show wins, and we’re still counting. Praying for an MC Yeonjun win…

Their new EP is a 10/10 album, there’s so much global promo happening, and of course, our tubatu are working super hard. So, as you might expect, there are a lot of new fans in this era! As OG MOA, we thought it was only right for us to take baby MOA under our metaphorical wing and introduce them to TXT’s skipless discography.

If this era is your intro to TXT, don’t worry, we’ve got your back. If you pick your favorite masterpiece from The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION (a nearly impossible task, we know), then we’ll introduce you to two tubatu b-sides we reckon you’ll love. And voila, in a week’s time, you’ll be 70 songs deep and a fully-fledged MOA! You’re welcome!

‘Devil By The Window’

You Should Listen To:

‘Frost’
‘Frost’ is one of TXT’s most popular b-sides, and for good reason. The dynamic track has a similar grit to ‘Devil By The Window,’ and there’s a lot of crossover in the aesthetics. If you’ve fallen in love with TXT’s spooky side, then we know you’ll be obsessed with ‘Frost.’

‘PUMA’
If you love how TXT embody their characters in ‘Devil By The Window,’ then you’ll love the live performances of ‘PUMA’ too. It was arguably the first time we saw this darker side of TXT, something that now is one of their biggest strengths. We love ‘PUMA’ in its own right, but we also love using it as a way to see how far they’ve come since then.

‘Sugar Rush Ride’

You Should Listen To:

‘Eternally’
‘Sugar Rush Ride’ is more like a rollercoaster ride with how often the song changes genre. We all know and love TXT for their versatility, and ‘SRR’ isn’t the first song to showcase this. From The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY, ‘Eternally’ is one of TXT’s most beloved tracks. Accompanied by a 20-minute cinematic masterpiece of a music video, the song switches up more times than we can count, and if you love ‘Sugar Rush Ride,’ you’ll be forever obsessed with ‘Eternally.’

‘Ice Cream’
Ok, so maybe we’re kind of cheating with this one, but what gives you a sweeter ‘Sugar Rush’ than ‘Ice Cream?’ The production of this Soobin co-write is as sweet as can be, even though the lyrics are definitely not. Despite the darker lyricism, this song still has a deceptively bright, refreshing energy, just like ‘Sugar Rush Ride.’

‘Happy Fools (feat. Coi Leray)’

You Should Listen To:

‘New Rules’
If you love ‘Happy Fools,’ then we reckon you must appreciate TXT’s versatility and genre experimentation. From their debut year, ‘New Rules’ is one of the first times we saw tubatu’s potential in that area. The funk and hip-hop-influenced track is a standout in TXT’s discography, just like ‘Happy Fools’ is on The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION!

‘Lonely Boy’
We’re obsessed with the pop-rap mix showcased in ‘Happy Fools,’ just like we adore it in ‘Lonely Boy.’ The unit song features powerful vocals from Huening Kai and on-trend rap vocals from Yeonjun, who also wrote the topline melody for ‘Happy Fools.’ In fact, ‘Happy Fools’ has been floating around for a while, and all five members contributed to the lyrics, so we’re so happy (geddit!) that it found a home on The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION.

‘Tinnitus (Wanna be a rock)’

You Should Listen To:

‘Poppin’ Star’
If you love ‘Tinnitus,’ then you probably love songs that make you want to dance, which is exactly what ‘Poppin’ Star’ does too. The production on this song is like nothing else we’ve heard within K-Pop, and the same can be said for ‘Tinnitus.’ Put them both on your summer playlists, and you’re set, TBH.

‘Maze In The Mirror’
You might listen to ‘Maze In The Mirror’ and be confused as to why we would recommend this, but stick with us. Despite its bright nature, ‘Tinnitus’ is actually a pretty dark track and details TXT’s complicated relationship with fame and stardom. “Rockstar minus a star, just a rock, okay?” ‘Maze In The Mirror explores a similar aspect of TXT lives, but back during their debut days. This one was co-written by all five members and co-produced by Beomgyu, so we’d honestly recommend that any baby MOA listen to it ASAP.

Plus, that Peter Pan reference in the ‘Maze In The Mirror…’ Oh, it’s all linking up now!

‘Farewell, Neverland’

You Should Listen To:

‘Everlasting Shine’
Honestly, it feels unfair that we’ve gotten this far into this list before we’ve introduced you to a TXT Japanese b-side. Their Japanese discography is the stuff of dreams, and a lot of it is rock-influenced and lowkey guitar heavy, so you’ll be extra obsessed if you already love ‘Farewell, Neverland.’ ‘Everlasting Shine’ glows even amongst these other gorgeous tracks, and we honestly can’t recommend it highly enough.

‘Dear Sputnik’
This anthem, produced by maknae Huening Kai, is a true fan favorite, as it should be. The rock track has a similar relentless energy and build-up to ‘Farewell, Neverland.’ It’s making us even more certain that a ‘Farewell, Neverland’ live performance would be elite tier if ‘Dear Sputnik’ at ACT:BOY is anything to go by! TXT is rumored to already have choreo for this, so we should all be nervous for the ACT:SWEET MIRAGE world tour.

So there we have it! And if you’re new to the fandom, welcome! What’s your favorite track on The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION? If you’ve been MOA for a while, do you agree with our choices? Will Baby MOA love these tracks? Let us know all your thoughts over on Twitter @TheHoneyPOP! Or, if that’s not your vibe, we’re also on Facebook and Instagram!
