God, do we all wanna be ‘Something to Someone’ and Dermot Kennedy captures that sentiment. While it may not be a raging fire of feeling, it’s ten times better! A bed of embers is here to keep us warm. While we’ve been quite literally basking in the vibes this song gives us, we have been given a gift: A music video!
We’re really digging that opening shot of what looks to be moving Rorschach inkblots. It really makes a powerful statement in itself. The fact someone can leave such an imprint on you that’s so deep that it’s on a subconscious level. In a way, they’re still always with you. On top of that, it’s all about perception. You can see love as wasted time or a chance to love and be loved. Maybe that’s a little too deep on main! But we dig it. The love and care put into this? Phenomenal. That was literally just from the first five seconds.
Then those mirror shots? Everything looks just so ethereal. The breathing room in each shot really hits home the fact that love doesn’t have to be dark, lonely, or scary. It’s light and good and brings us so much to understand about ourselves! It’s a great journey, and boy, are we so grateful Dermot Kennedy could be here to guide us on this one. Absolutely magical.
Maybe we’re a tad masochistic. After all, enduring the journey to the other side of lost love is not easy. As our favorite flame once said, “A heart is a heavy burden,” but we think enduring has made us feel more connected than ever before.
