We at THP have been counting down the days until April 5th, when The Super Mario Bros. Movie officially hits theaters! And luckily, we don’t have too much time left to wait. But that also sparks a problem: we don’t have too much time left to figure out what we’ll wear to the movie theater! Getting dressed up for a movie this big makes the experience even more fun, especially if you have a group of friends to be different characters.
To make your theater prep experience a little easier, we styled some cute outfits inspired by iconic Super Mario Bros. characters! Check out the final trailer below, then let’s get your outfit picked out for the big day.

Mario
Let’s start off with our titular hero, Mario! Of course, you need those signature overalls and a long-sleeve red shirt underneath. Finish the look with a Mario hat and his token brown boots, and you’re all set to go confront Bowser!
Luigi
Since Mario and Luigi pretty much wear the same thing, we wanted to switch it up a bit for our Luigi look! We’d swap out the traditional overalls for a pinafore dress and the hat for a sleek headband, of course keeping the green long-sleeve shirt.
Princess Peach
We adore Peach’s classic pink gown, but we gotta say, her moto look from The Super Mario Bros. Movie is starting to steal our hearts! We’d channel this outfit by layering a soft pink moto jacket over a white Princess Peach shirt, then finish it off with pink and white jeans. Then you’re all set to take Rainbow Road by storm!
Bowser
Since Bowser is the villain of the movie, we wanted to go with something a little edgier for him! Layering a long-sleeved striped shirt under a Bowser tee is a great way to bring your merch to the next level, while a red plaid skirt would match his hair in a fun way. Finish it off with some spiked bracelets and chains, and you’re good to go!
Donkey Kong
One thing you definitely need with a Donkey Kong-inspired outfit is his signature red tie, which we built the rest of this outfit around! We think it would pair really well with a tan button-down and a brown skirt or pants. Bonus points if you add a Donkey Kong backpack to match!
Toad
Toad is an absolute style icon with his open vest and white drawstring pants, but unfortunately, we can’t all pull that off. We’d emulate his look with a polka-dot top, blue jeans, and a gold buckle belt to get some yellow in there!
