It’s that time of the week again! We are back with Fresh Music Friday! We have albums, EPs, and singles galore! There is something for everyone on this lineup!
Bestfriend – places i’ve left
We are kicking off Fresh Music Friday with one of our new favorite duos, Bestfriend! This entire EP, places i’ve left, has been one of the best projects we’ve heard all year, and has made us do a deep dive into every previously released track. That’s how you know we’re obsessed. ‘Love Always Came So Easy For You’ is our standout track on the record.

Thomas Day – ‘MASOCHIST’
Thomas Day is no stranger to Fresh Music Friday – we have been long-time supporters, and ‘MASOCHIST’ is sure to make people see exactly why. While we’ve loved every offering from Thomas Day so far, ‘MASOCHIST’ is now of one of our favorite tracks he’s put out. The power in his vocals, the lyrics, what a banger the track is, especially that chorus… it’s all a recipe for a perfect song.

Nathan Connolly – The Strange Order of Things
We all know and love Nathan Connolly from the soundtrack to so many of our teenage years, as he’s part of the band Snow Patrol! And now, we’re getting a solo endeavor, The Strange Order of Things. Simply put, this album is stunning. Not a single flaw. Every song exudes emotion and feels so atmospheric, really allowing us to get lost in the music. ‘This Is All That I Don’t Feel’ is our favorite track – we are listening to it as we write this, we can’t turn it off.

Bree Runway – ‘Be The One’ ft. Khalid
Bree Runway and Khalid were meant to make music together, that was clear the second we pressed play on ‘Be The One.’ Both of their voices mesh so beautifully and bring forth such clear emotion. These are two of the industry’s brightest stars, and the level of artistry on display here on ‘Be The One’ is all the proof anyone should need.

Loren Gray – Guilty
It’s here! Loren Gray has finally released her debut album, Guilty, and we have lost any and all chill we had! From top to bottom, all ten of the tracks make for a perfectly cohesive pop album. Loren experiments with so many different sounds on the record with songs like ‘Never Be Perfect,’ which is a prime example as it ties in some pop-punk moments in that chorus.
Loren Gray is along for the long haul, and we know this is just the beginning.

Tiësto – Drive
Tiësto is dropping his newest album, Drive, just in time for us to use this project as the backing track to all of our nights out this summer. No one quite captures the same vibe that Tiësto is able to, and we think that ‘All Nighter’ is the best example of that larger-than-life vibe.
We need to be out dancing to this entire record all night, ASAP.

Taylor Acorn – ‘Coma’
This track coming to us from Taylor Acorn feels plucked for the 2000s pop-punk world. Very Evanescence and early Avril Lavigne coded, embodying what we consider to be one of the golden ages of music! ‘Coma’ is a beautiful, powerful ode to Taylor’s mom, in which you can feel that each word she sings comes from the heart.

YOUTHYEAR – ‘All Too Well’ (Cover)
We are the number one emo-swiftie crossover stans, so this cover of one of Taylor’s holy grail tracks, ‘All Too Well,’ is right up our alley! YOUTHYEAR has managed to keep the emotion of the track while still completely reimagining the sound. We mean this genuinely, this is one of the best covers of a Taylor Swift track we’ve heard.

Jack Kays – ‘Highlight Reel’
To close out Fresh Music Friday, we are feeling just a bit called out. Jack Kays has released one of the most honest looks at the modern age of social media that we’ve ever heard depicted in a song. ‘Highlight Reel’ highlights (pun intended) that everything we see on social media can be deceptive, which is important to remember. The lyrics are backed by this incredible, heavy, indie-pop-rock backing track that we can’t get enough of.
