Fresh Music Friday: Maddie Zahm, Lizzy McAlpine, and More!

It’s that time of the week again! We are back to fill your playlists with the best of what’s new! We have everyone from Lizzy McAlpine, to Maddie Zahm, X Ambassadors! It’s a beyond stacked list, so let’s jump right in!

Maddie Zahm – ‘little me’

There is truly no better way to kick off any new music round-up than with one of our favorites, Maddie Zahm! Maddie has a way of invoking emotions out of us through the process of expressing her own emotions through music, which is so incredibly special and rare, And to us, ‘little me’ is the perfect example of this.

Maddie does a lot of looking back in her music, reflecting and wishing little her was treated better, it’s something that makes for such powerful art. Apologizing for your insecurities showing up in relationships by saying it’s little you showing up just completely had us in shambles.

Holly Humberstone – a work in progress

Listen, if you are not already on the Holly Humberstone train, a work in progress is about to get you there! If you’re a fan of artists Lizzy McAlpine, Gracie Abrams, etc. Holly is going to be right up your alley, a work in progress is a short and sweet four-track project and perfectly encapsulates Holly’s biggest strengths. Storytelling and soft, yet strong vocals.

Our personal favorite track is either ‘Easy Tiger’ or ‘Down Swinging.’

Madison Olivia – ‘USER’

Every new music round-up needs a little country music! And Madison Olivia is adding that much-needed element! Reminiscent of the country girlies of the early 2000s (the highest compliment) ‘USER’ had us hooked immediately. We can already tell we are going to be screaming these lyrics as unreal volumes many times in the future, and hopefully at a Madison Olivia show!

Lizzy McAlpine ` ‘I Guess’

It’s happening, we’re about to have an entire new Lizzy McAlpine album, on April 5th and we’re assuming that ‘I Guess’ is our last taste of what the record will sound like before it’s officially ours. Based on both this track and ‘Older,’ the title track we are fully convinced this album is going to be one many tears are shed to. And y’all know by now we love a good cry.

If there is one thing Lizzy McAlpine is going to do it’s put us in our feelings. The moment we heard the line “You’re saying things, and they sound like love‘ it was over for us.

Sydney Sherrill – 17 Young And Stunning

Sydney Sherrill is one to watch, mark our words! This debut album truly was chalked full of so many songs that felt like they were pulled straight from your favorite 2000s movie soundtrack, which is genuinely the highest form of flattery we could provide. The greatest example being ‘Boy In The Blue Cadillac’. We could very easily see ourselves hearing this song in a film and then playing it out for months on end. Windows down in the car, screaming along to every word.

Stela Cole – ‘Blood Orange Wine’

Stela Cole is quickly becoming a regular feature on these lists, and it’s with good reason! With each song she releases we are more drawn in, If you’re a fan of artists like MARINA, ‘Blood Orange Wine’ is very MARINA-coded, and you all will eat it right up. We know we did.

We would love to see a full length project with songs in this realm from Stela!

Kat Cunning – ‘Heart of Gold’

We were truly left speechless after our initial listen to this track. The track truly takes you on a rollercoaster both emotionally and sonically. It takes a true understanding of music and ways to bend genres to create a track that exists at this level. Kat Cunning gained forever fans in THP!

X Ambassadors – ‘Half Life’

We have been longtime X Ambassadors fans, ever since hearing ‘Unsteady’ we were sold, so it came as no surprise to us when they released a song as heartbreakingly beautiful as ‘Half-Life.’ Every element you want out of an X Ambassadors song is here, the insane vocals, the stunning lyrics, and the storytelling. We have been listening to this track on a loop almost the entire time we’ve been writing this article, just thinking about the people who make our lives feel more whole and tearing up.

kenzie – ‘word vomit’

We couldn’t think of a better way to end this round-up than with the next-it girl, kenzie. With each track kenzie releases we are truly seeing her come more and more into her own, it’s such a beautiful thing to see an artist’s entire journey in that way. These lyrics come from such a personal place, such a vulnerable place, we can tell the healing that took place during the creation of this song and can already tell it’s going to be a track that so many people attach themselves to.
