Here at THP, we’re always on the lookout for new music! Since this month is coming to its end, we’ve collected some of our favorite September releases across multiple genres to share with you.
Allman Brown – ‘Breathe In, Breathe Out’
Allman Brown released the second single from his upcoming EP, Breathe In, Breathe Out. This calm, alt-pop track comes equipped with the sweetest lyrics! “Breathe In, Breathe Out. I’ll be waiting when you come back down.” If you’re ever feeling down, this track “might just be enough” to make you feel better!
Bush – ‘Nowhere To Go But Everywhere’
Ahead of the release of their greatest hits album, Bush has released a new single! Backed by a rock track, the lyrics reflect on how perspective changes with time.
“I wish I knew myself more, galore. I was so much younger then, thought life would never end.” Since the group has been together for almost 30 years, they definitely know what they’re talking about! This track would be a great addition to any of your playlists, especially if you’re experiencing the crisis that is growing up.
Emeli Sandé – ‘How Were We To Know’
This single from Emeli Sandé’s new album will make you feel like you’re in ‘Heaven.’ This track starts slow and soft before gradually building to a powerful anthem!
“How were we to know? How were we to grow? We gave it all we had, so come on don’t feel bad.” These lyrics paired with Emeli’s chilling vocals make for the perfect song. Seriously, does anyone else have goosebumps? We sure do!
Girli – ‘Matriarchy’
We have to say; we’re obsessed with this alt-pop track from Girli. For our sapphic readers, this one is for you!
“Look at us, we’re making our own rules. Nothing like they taught us in high school. Sapphic celebration in your bedroom, it’s so free.” Girli talks about sapphic love and how those relationships can feel like rebellion against the patriarchy. She’s here to speak out about feminism, sexuality, and identity. We’ll be listening and if you like what you’ve read so far, so should you!
Holly Humberstone – ‘Into Your Room’
Holly creating another perfect song? Don’t be surprised! This pop track is paired with lyrics that explore feelings of guilt in a relationship.
“Don’t make me stand outside in the pouring rain with a freshly ripped human heart from my ribcage.” Did we mention it’s a deep cut? If you enjoy chill-pop tracks with lyrics that’ll leave your heart aching, this track has you covered.
Little Image – ‘OUT OF MY MIND’
You’ll be “losing track of time” listening to this song! This Little Image track went to number 1, and we can see why!
“I can’t deny that you change me, make me go out of my mind without you, baby.” If that sounds relatable and you enjoy alternative music, you’re in luck! Little Image gave us the perfect addition to all of your upbeat playlists! We can’t wait to hear this one live.
Summer Soul – ‘Dear.R’
K-POP fans, this is for you. Summer Soul has been so kind to give us a double single! ‘Dear. R’ features ‘Ride’ (feat. Jueun) and ‘Ruby.’ ‘Ride’ focuses on the friendship between Summer Soul and Jueun, while ‘Ruby’ explores the unpleasant sides of love.
There’s a balance between these two tracks with “You used to be my love, used to be my world. Baby I’m just looking good like I’m on my own baby” from ‘Ruby,’ to “Don’t really care. Do me wrong or do me right” from ‘Ride.’ If you ask us, we’d have to say it’s the perfect double single drop! You’re bound to love one of these tracks so “you better run” to give them a listen.
Stone – ‘If You Wanna’
Do we have any Louies around? If so, you may recognize Stone from a previous Away From Home Festival lineup. If you’re not already familiar with Stone, don’t worry. Grab some friends, hit play, and get ready to scream along! It’s exactly what Stone created ‘If You Wanna’ for. Between the catchy beat and lyrics encouraging you to “break the mould” and “change your life,” it’s an inspiring song. Go give it a listen! Well, only ‘If You Wanna.’
The Drums – ‘The Flowers’
“How did you find me, honey?” We just happen to have our ways of finding the greatest tracks! Which brings us to share this indie song, ‘The Flowers.’
“And I like the pretty things you said about the flowers. And I loved how long you hugged me when I said I missed her.” These lyrics express the feelings of that kind of love which is just completely pure and unconditional. The lyrics in this song are so beautiful, we are truly in love. The best thing we can advise is to grab your tissues, take a seat, and listen to this beautiful tender track.
Troye Sivan – ‘Got Me Started’
We have some “hot chemistry” with this song and if you enjoy synth-pop tracks, so will you! This song samples ‘Shooting Stars’ by Bag Raiders yet, Troye has still made this his own with the lyrics.
“Boy, can I be honest? Kinda miss usin’ my body. F*** it up just like this party did tonight.” Troye talks about breakups and that moment when you finally realize how many new possibilities you have! We love tracks that celebrate yourself, so this is one of our favorites for obvious reasons.
There have been so many amazing releases this September, but hopefully, we just put ten new ones on your radar! Will any of these tracks make their way into your rotation? Let us know @TheHoneyPop on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram!
