Lizzy McAlpine is one of those artists that we recommend whenever anyone is looking for a new artist to get into. Front to back Lizzy’s entire discography is flawless, from singles to albums, including Older. We remember back when five seconds flat came out and we genuinely were so blown away by what a cohesive, honest body of work it was, and we honestly were worried that for us personally Older wouldn’t match up, but of course, it did.

‘Better Than This’
We were crying just from the instrumentals, that’s how fragile we are, and how incredible at conveying emotion Lizzy McAlpine is. ‘Better Than This’ is such an honest, gut punch of a song. It so beautifully deals with self-doubt, and acceptance. Lizzy’s soft vocals are almost dream-like, which only added to the emotion.
‘March’
By the time we got to ‘March’ we had just accepted we were going to cry through the entire album. ‘March’ was such a personal song, and Lizzy being able to put this feeling of love and loss into words takes so much strength. The loss of a parent leaves an unfillable hole, and hearing this put to music was so powerful.
‘Drunk, Running’
To finish off our favorite songs list we knew we had to do ‘Drunk, Running.’ Much like ‘March’ this song really struck a personal chord with us. Addiction is a scary thing to face, no matter your part in it, and being able to put music to the struggle of loving someone with an addiction is such a beautifully tragic thing.
