Wave To Earth just played their biggest European show on the Flaws And All Tour, and we were fortunate enough to grab tickets. While it’s going to be challenging trying to articulate just how incredible the show was, we’re certainly about to try. Every single Londoner scrambled for these tickets, us included. Truly, this is no exaggeration, the show sold out at its original venue in just five seconds before being upgraded to Troxy in London, where, unsurprisingly, it sold out again. The band’s demand is truly incredible across Europe, and their music undeniably justifies it.
A Shoutout To Seoul Therapy
Before diving into the show, we have to take a moment to appreciate the work of the organizers and hosts, Seoul Therapy. As seasoned concertgoers, we’re all too familiar with the chaos surrounding gigs. But that wasn’t the case for the Flaws And All Tour. Seoul Therapy made everything—from ticketing to comprehensive event guides and reseller warnings—a breeze, which is something we truly have to applaud.
Part One Of The Set
Wave To Earth are a three-piece band consisting of Daniel Kim, Soonjong Cha (John), and Donggyu Shin. They opened their set with their hit song ‘Bad,’ which truly ignited the excitement of everyone in the crowd who sang their hearts out. After all, how can the day be bad when you’re at a Wave To Earth concert? The performance was divided into two major parts, with a twenty-minute intermission that offered a refreshing twist to what we’re used to in terms of concert structure.
Each Member Took Centre Stage
What truly stood out to us as fans watching along was the way the three guys supported each other throughout the set. During heavy instrumentals, John and Daniel rallied around Donggyu at the drums. And while Daniel led most of the show as the main vocalist, he introduced John as the special guest to take the lead during ‘Evening Glow.’ This change of spotlight showcased each member’s talent. Plus, it extended into the audience. Particularly during the song ‘Surf,’ fans were encouraged to chant along in the chorus, but there is truly nothing quite like screaming “Jellyfish Jellyfish” on a Wednesday evening.
The Flaws And All Tour Experience
Seeing Wave To Earth live reminded us how much we adore live music and how important it is to attend live shows. We already knew their discography was pretty unbeatable, but the extension and additions to each song for the stage gave us a newfound love for each track. The stripped-back rendition to open ‘Homesick’ was raw and emotional and had us all holding back the tears. Throughout the setlist, these variations with extended intros or outros truly transformed familiar favorites into one-of-a-kind experiences.
As Wave To Earth began to wrap up their London stop, they left an incredible mark with the final part of their set. From Daniel’s beautiful ‘Seasons’ solo and fan projects during ‘Calla’ to ending with ‘Light.’ The venue was bathed in a glow of projected lights on the art deco walls. It felt like we’d been transported to such a tranquil place, and we honestly never wanted to leave.
We’re so pleased to see Europe’s outpour of love and support for Wave To Earth. And we’re hopeful that they will return soon. Did you attend the Flaws And All Tour? What are your favorite Wave To Earth songs? Share your thoughts in the comments or find us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
