London is graced once again by even more incredible talent. Jensen McRae takes to a stage in King’s Cross to perform just over an hour’s worth of her catalog. From songs such as ‘Wolves,’ to ‘Good Legs,’ something is sure to suit your feelings.
With ‘Wolves’ being all about how scary it can be being a woman at times, Jensen managed to capture the emotion of fear and distrust perfectly, while telling the story in such a heartfelt but soft way. It’s a reflection on her own life, whilst a warning to others and a message to us, to know we’re not alone.
‘Good Legs’ is on the opposite end of the spectrum, about a short-lived situationship and how quickly you can fall for someone and how much you can grow with people.
Jensen McRae filled her show with all kinds of emotions, introducing every song with a small story about when and why it was written. It really helps you connect to the songs, and understand her deeper as a person rather than just an artist. She kept the whole show pretty stripped back, and due to the layout and size of the venue, it felt like everyone was up close and personal to her. Like being in a bubble of peace and tranquility.
For her closing song she performed ‘Massachusetts,’ did you notice something in those photos? Did you clock it? Maisie Peters was a special surprise and joined Jensen on stage to perform the song with her. Jensen showered Maisie in praise saying she was the first person to hype up her music and they’ve been friends ever since. We really should have realized sooner that something was suspicious… Jensen played a cover of ‘Wendy’ earlier in the show, but we were living in blissful unawareness.
P.S. Get you a girl who looks at you the way Maisie Peters looks at Jensen McRae.
