2024 was (G)I-DLE‘s year for many reasons, and they are in the same direction in 2025. Last year, we started with one of the biggest comebacks of the year, followed by Yuqi‘s first mini-album, and this year… It’s been a long time coming and a lot of waiting, but she’s finally here: (G)I-DLE’s Minnie just had her solo debut. HER is everything we’ve ever wanted from Minnie and so much more as she establishes all the different sides to her identity and artistry and gives us a comeback that we know will stick with us for the rest of the year as one of the best of 2025.
The Pre-Release: ‘Blind Eyes Red’
The first taste of HER came as a surprise at the beginning of the month with the teasing and, soon later, the release of Minnie‘s first track, ‘Blind Eyes Red.’ It took everyone’s timelines and FYPs by storm with its strong, luring visuals and an absolute masterpiece of a first song. ‘Blind Eyes Red’ is the perfect first track of HER. It is alluring, magnetic, dark, mysterious, and sensual in the best way. With one song, it was clear Minnie was about to give us one of the best solo debuts.
The Title Track
And we weren’t wrong. If ‘Blind Eyes Red’ wasn’t enough to blow our minds (and it was), ‘HER’ really established Minnie’s power as a soloist. ‘HER’ is nothing like ‘Blind Eyes Rmed,’ yet it keeps that seducing and confident vibe. Minnie’s solo title track is a groovy pop song at its core, with truly catchy melodies and a cheeky energy. If you love tracks like ‘Queencard,’ ‘HER’ will definitely be for you.
Minnie explores identity in her song, and it is portrayed in the best way in the music video. It showcases different versions of her in the most fun way through absolutely gorgeous cinematography. Talk about duality. ‘HER’ couldn’t get any better already, yet the music video elevates it so high.
The B-Sides
As much as ‘Blind Eyes Red’ and ‘HER’ were already enough to establish Minnie’s vision and artistry, so much more lies in the b-sides of her mini-album. HER is a genius pop mini-album, from the first note to the last one. Minnie explores all her different facets in HER, creating unique to her.
‘Drive U Crazy’ is unforgettable, not just because Yuqi is featured in the track. Their chemistry and artistry put together was sure to give us a banger, and that’s exactly what they did. ‘Drive U Crazy‘ is the perfect mixture of the two first tracks in HER, as it mixes an enticing, sensual energy with a groovy and bright beat.
‘Cherry Sky’ is Minnie at her most seductive. Her voice is soft yet alluring, and that’s always been one of the most magnetic attributes of her tone. It is a relaxed track that gets you on an immediate high. Meanwhile, ‘Valentine’s Dream’ is a perfect song for Valentine’s Day. It is the first ballad in HER and takes inspiration from soul yet remains sweet, dreamy, and pretty.
It is impossible not to have a soft spot for a song like ‘It’s Okay.’ It is Minnie at her most honest, most vulnerable, and most sensitive. With a stripped down instrumental and Minnie‘s voice, the message of support and love shines through perfectly, making the song feel like a hug when you need it the most. Minnie’s songwriting shines through on the track and shows yet another side of her, making it an instant highlight in HER.
But talking about highlights… Of course, Minnie kept the best for last. Her collaboration with WayV’s Ten in ‘Obsession’ is everything. ‘Obsession’ is pop perfection. It has an energetic, bright beat, melodies that will get stuck in your head after just one listen, and feels so fresh. It’s youthful and colorful, and their voices together make it even better. This iconic duo together in a track is just the cherry on top of the perfection that is Minnie‘s solo debut.
