Hyungwon from super K-Pop group Monsta X has an incredible ability to captivate the crowd. From his chocolatey velvet vocals to his graceful and fluid dance movements, his performances are impossible to take our eyes off. He’s also ace at essentially everything else, from acting to songwriting he truly has an arsenal of impressive talents. For now, let’s dig into his songwriting with these four songs he wrote for Monsta X!

This track, from Monsta X’s album Fatal Love, perfectly shows off Hyungwon’s immaculate precision when it comes to songwriting. The lyrics and delivery from the members capture the passion of loving someone desperately. If that’s not enough, this impressive water stage adds an enthralling intrigue to match the words.
“I just wanna show you off (as you felt)
I need your love (a little more than)
I don’t wanna kiss and tell, no (somebody else)
Nothing compares to you”

In an interview, Hyungwon said he needed a new challenge in his life and decided to write an entirely English song. The result? The jazzy track ‘Secrets’ was created and adorned their EP One Of A Kind. The lyrics are addictive to sing along to and the unique musical arrangement sets itself apart from their other work in the best way. We hope to see even more genres explored by this all-rounder group.
“Baby, you got me feeling high
So would you please give me a sign? (Oh, will you?)
Tell me what you want now, the night is over (Over)
What’s your secret?”
Another amazing song from One Of A Kind. Written for Monsta X’s fans, known as Monbebe, BEBE is a promise that goes both ways. The members will always be there for their fans and they know Monbebe will always be there for them too. The light and springy track is sure to brighten not only their fans’ day but anyone’s who hears it.
“Ooh, sometimes I get lost
Ooh, even if I lose the light
Always be with you
I’ll be by your side BEBE”
His latest songwriting addition is from Monsta X’s EP No Limit. Hyungwon pours painful angst into the lyrics of ‘Mercy’ and brings us a track, unlike anything we’ve heard from him before. He has previously said that this song is a continuation of ‘Nobody Else.’ How cool is it that his songs are connected?
“Paint all over the torn scars with clouds
If you can hide it, never mind
In the pouring rain
May the pain be washed away”
We’ve already started making our Hyungwon Songs playlist and can’t wait to hear what he’s been writing next!
