8 Times aespa Inspired Us, In Honor Of ‘Life’s Too Short’

Has anyone else had fancams of aespa’s performance of ‘Life’s Too Short’ at Coachella on repeat since April? Because we have! But thankfully, Giselle, Karina, Ningning, and Winter have finally given us the English studio version of ‘Life’s Too Short.’ This song is one of the more upbeat, cheerful ones in their catalog and it’s all about letting go of what other people might say about you in favor of choosing love and positivity.

So in honor of this motivational track, we wanted to look back at some of our favorite times aespa inspired us and made us prouder than ever! Just call us Naevis, because we’re guiding you to some of their best moments.

When They Made Coachella History

Since the girls debuted ‘Life’s Too Short’ at Coachella, it’s pretty much obligatory for us to open with this amazing moment. Technically, the girls were the second female K-Pop idols to play the festival’s main stage, since 2NE1 made a surprise appearance the weekend before them, but they were the first female K-Pop group to play a full set on the main stage! It’s mind-blowing that they wound up being a main attraction at Coachella just a few years into their career. Their immediate hard work and dedication paid off big time.

When Giselle Donated To Help Animals

In late May, a nonprofit that helps abandoned animals got an anonymous donation of 10 million won, which is around $7.6k USD. It turns out Giselle was the one who donated the money to Yuhengsa! We love that Giselle not only made the donation, but did it out of the goodness of her heart and didn’t want the focus to be the fact that she was the one who gave it to them.

When They Stepped Outside Of Their Sonic Comfort Zone

aespa shocked the world when they debuted with the triumphant ‘Black Mamba’ in 2020, creating a dark-pop masterpiece with elements of hip-hop and electronic music. So it was pretty surprising that their second release was the more subdued, twinkling ‘Forever!’ We loved getting to see their duality so early on in their career, and we have our fingers crossed to hear another slow-tempo track from them soon. The more mellow vibes let their vocals take center stage!

When They Let Out Their Inner Fangirls

As a site run by fans for fans, you already knew we’d have to mention this! aespa are never afraid to get excited over the artists they love, and one of the best examples is their Song Association interview with Elle. They freaked out over some of our faves, including Rihanna, Beyoncé, and even Boys Like Girls, which made our 2000s pop-punk kid hearts so happy. They’re proof that you can be at the top of your game and still embrace what you love most!

When They Worked With Their Own Idols

Winter has been compared to the legend that is Taeyeon since she debuted with aespa, and Karina’s never shy to admit she was a fangirl for older SM Entertainment artists even while she was training to become one herself. So what happens when you let them join a supergroup with the very idols they’ve looked up to? Magic happens, that’s what!

Karina and Winter absolutely shined as part of GOT The Beat, which also includes BoA, Hyoyeon and Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation, and Seulgi and Wendy of Red Velvet. Never give up on your dreams, because you might just be among your favorite icons one day!

When They Went Beyond Music

To enhance their AI concept and really give MY exciting experiences, aespa always step outside of the box to deliver fun content. Whether it’s being stylish ambassadors for the Givenchy fashion house or acting out their lore for the SMCU series, aespa are seriously one of the most versatile groups out there. Stanning them is so exciting because you never know what you’ll get next, and that’s one of our favorite things about them.

When Ningning Was Unapologetically Herself

One of our favorite things about our girl Ningning is that she refuses to be anything other than who she really is! From making jokes about dyeing her hair to pretending to eat fake plants on the set of the ‘Next Level’ music video, you can always count on her to bring the playful energy and make sure the other members are having fun as well. We all need a friend like her!

When They Taught Us To Focus On What Matters

We’re coming back full circle to talk about ‘Life’s Too Short’ again! The song is all about focusing on the positive energy in your life rather than anything vile or malicious others want to throw your way, and that’s something we all need a reminder of at some point. aespa always inspire us to see the good in every day and try to make our own sunshine when we need it.
